Angels just started rolling over during the night now and I've found her on her stomach a few times, it does worry me a little bit but I was told at this stage not her roll her back because she can do it herself but it really worries me esp now she's in her own room, am I ok to leave her like this? I really don't wanna disturb her. xx

She should be fine hun if she gets distressed you'll hear her..xx

I let G sleep on his tummy now, but we almost co-sleep (hi cot is next to our bed and one wall is taken off), so I can always keep an eye on him...

My HV told me when they are able to roll like that then u can leave them on their front for the night rather than waking them up xxx

I was told to turn them over when you see them like this. I think its ok when they get a bit older...maybe 1yr?? not sure but when they get older its ok to leave them. Maybe not at 6 months.

If your worried you can get something called a tucker sling which attaches to the mattress & holds baby in place

xxxxxxxx

Henry sleeps on his tummy and has done for about 3-4 weeks now. He sleeps so much better on his tummy. I have an angelcare sensor mat so I know he is ok x

We have started getting the same prob! Did a bit of online research and the advice seems to b its ok if they can roll themselves but always put them down to sleep on there back to start off with. SIDS risk peaks between 1-4 months then reduces. Read a lot of mixed advice but I guess if they can roll and lift their own head easily they can move if they need to! xx

Also- and I don't know about the tucker sling littlemiss suggested -but I also read not to use sleep positioners. Got most of my info from babycenter website where they have a SIDS expert giving his advice in this situation. X

I do remember reading somewhere that babies should always be placed on their back to sleep but if they can roll onto their front you don't need to put them back as they'll be able to do it on their own. She was sleeping with her head to the side and seemed fine. I really didn't wanna disturb her but I didn't feel comfortable, I guess it's the first time she's ever slept on her front, that I've seen anyway so I guess that's why I felt uneasy. I woke at 4am and found her like this and I couldn't get back to sleep cuz I kept checking on her lol I dozed off for a bit and when she'd turned onto her back again lol xx

I'm stressing too- ethan can't roll back consistently although on his front he can lift head fully and come right up onto extended arms. I have found him on his front twice.....once with head to side and once he was resting on his chin! I've turned him back both times but I'm worried about the middle of the night when I fall asleep- he has only been waking once for feeding recently! We have a sensorpad but since we moved him to his own room and big cot it keeps false alarming so we had it turned off! I've been putting it on again tho today- think i'll put up with the alarms just coz I'd rather b woken and check him atm than not at all! Would feel better if he would roll front to back more consistently!! Xx

She does roll consistently and she's got a very strong neck and back and shoudlers and can lift herself up really well but like you I always worry when I fall asleep. Since I moved her into her own I wake 2/3 times in the night and panic and I sprint into her room just to check and I found it so difficult to fall back to sleep knowing she was on her tummy, just scared she'll bury her face in the mattress or something like that. I had that sensor pad too but the alarm went off for me and I swear it nearly gave me a proper heart attack. I even took her to the docs the next day to ensure she was ok even though I could see for myself she was fine lol and it happened to a few of my friends too so I stopped using it immediately as I was just lay awake waiting for it to go off again lol xx

I spoke to my GP about it when I took D, he has been rolling onto his tummy in his sleep for a few weeks now, she said if he can do it and hes comfortable its fine. We always put him down on his back and leave him to get comfy which for him seems to be on his tummy. To begin with we tried to put him back on his back but he'd just roll again so we don't even try anymore x

I was under the impression that if they can roll, leave them.

Tyler had a cold and keeps 'choking' and scaring the crap out of me on the night ATM!

Will goes down on his back but is on his tummy within an hour, he is fine but I was worrying so iv now got one of those monitors that alarm if he stops breathing x

Well, the sensorpad has gone off at least 6 times since he went to sleep at about 7! It just doesn't work with the mattress we have! Grrr! He has gone over to his tummy twice already and seems to b putting his head to the side ok. OH just turned him over coz he coughed! But he is already nearly back over again! Think I'm gonna have to trust that he will b ok coz unless he cries about it I'm not gonna wake up to know he's over. He has cried about it before so I know he will if he needs to, just wish he was better at rolling back to his back so he could if he needed to! Not much I can do really! Wonder if I'll b able to sleep tonight, keep worrying now :-(

I'm sure he will let u know if he wants to go back.. Just keep trying to encourage him to roll back in the day :) x

Hi JM! He did let me know! Lol and it was just the once which was good! I do try to get him to practice and I know he can do it but he doesn't seem interested! Think his mind is more set on crawling and so he wants to b on his tummy! He slept on his tummy for nap this morning- think he really likes it! X

Awe that's so cute!! Lily likes to be on her side for naps but her sleeping bag stops her rolling at night..
She spends most of the day on her tummy she loves it and does look like she wants to crawl!!

It's really cute when he pushes up with his arms and tries to kick his legs! He doesn't go anywhere bless him! .....He is in sleeping bag at night but still gets over somehow! He was quite happy when he woke up on his tummy this morning- lifted his head right up and gave me a beaming smile- melts my heart :)

Sleep positioners are different to tucker sling, positioners are 2 cushion type things at either side of baby to stop baby from turning over, but they were all recalled due to the sids risk off the cushions, tucker sling is ....i dont really know how to explain it...see the door bouncers you get, the bit that goes around LO's body, its like that except smaller & it has like a sheet attached that slips onto the matress like a usual mattress sheet & LO is kinda stuck there....I've not actually got one, but I would, they're ideal for reflux babies, coz they need cot elevated & often slip down

xxxxxx
