OK I am slowly learning that being pregnant is a minefield of risks!
Apparently, skincare products also have to be considered. Anyone know of a good range to use? At the moment I have some Sainsbury's face wipes and Boots Botanics moisturiser, YSL foundation and Boots 17 concealer. No idea if these are OK or not.

Help!

 OH...this is a new one on me! Will keep an eye on this thread for any useful info!

I've emailed Simple to ask them. I know - it's a minefield!! I think it's just things with Vit A and anti-ageing but I'll have another look. Sheeeesh!! xxx

You definitely should avoid anything with salicylic acid in it as it can be absorbed through the skin & passed to the baby. Lots of facial products have this in & also things such as verruca treatments. Vitamin A should be avoided & also be very careful of essential oils as many are not safe during pregnancy. I know tea tree oil & lavender oil are both safe. But some can cause early labour, MC etc. So natural is not always safe. I am also trying to avoid products with Parabens in as they are supposed to be linked to cancer & there are parabens in loads of products (including many baby wipes & lotions).
Like you say it is a minefield with beauty products, but luckily many supermarkets stock chemical & paraben free products at reasonable prices these days.

Hey Sunny! Great name ;)
Thank you so much for all of this - I'm hoping Simple products don't contain any of these. The trouble is that some of the names of chemicals change from list to list - I did find a site on my phone that listed all the variations but I can't find it now
What do you use?
xx

Yay for the Superdrug link! They seem nice and simple - I'm going to get these and also the SPF and normal moisturisers. Thanks ever so much :)
I never knew all this was so complicated haha!

Did you find out whether you can use simple products hunny? x x

I have looked at the simple ingredients and they don't have any of the harmful ingredients listed if this helps.

Thanks hunny, i went to use my products this morning and stopped because I wasnt sure x x

thanks for this, wasn't sure what to use or not to use. Am booked for a facial next week (need to do something about the lumpy bumpy bits my skin has started throwing at me) they are using pregnancy friendly products so am planning to ask there.

wow girls thanks for this. I had read about vitamin a in skin care and checked mine didn't have it but I will defo be heading to superdrug on my way home and getting some of this stuff.

I also ready that you should avoid green tea because it can prevent the baby absorbing folic acid. I'd become a green/herbal tea aholic since I can't have caffine. What are you girls drinking in terms of hot drinks? xxxx

I dont have caffine either vexcited so i drink redbush tea, its safe to use through pregnancy and bf plus its yummy :)
You can get it from any supermarket, ive had the original one and the vanilla one and they are both nice x x

its normally the essential oils that are in products that are bad for you but you do have to bear in mind that skincare only contains very small amounts of these products!! I used to work at lush and was told there that all their skin care was ok for pregnancy ans it is all fresh and not that expensive! Maybe give them a go?

Im using products from REN as they are really good to use when pregnant, I avoid products with lavender and parabens etc...

Ah thanks Mrs N, was going to go into my local store tomorrow and check my coalface and ocean salt would be ok.

Do you know if the same can be said for the shampoos and conditioners? Am dying to use my new supplies of Curly Wurly and Coolaulin

Ive been trying to find a list of pregnancy friendly skin care, hair care ect but i cant find one anywhere, all i can find is a list of what shouldnt be in them, id look pretty stupid if i went into boots and read the back of everything. Im going shopping this morning to treat myself, does anyone have a list or know any particular products either boots or superdrug sell? x x

For anyone looking for a body moisturiser, Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula says on the back suitable of during and after pregnancy and its also great from stretch marks later on in pregancy and it smells gorgeous x x
