How do you 'teach' your LOs to roll??

Or did they just figure it out. G has absolutely no interest in doing it. Sometimes if I lay her not quite on her tummy but a wee hit squint, she moves more into her side, but this is how she sleeps had seems to have to desire to roll onto her back??

Wonder years reckons she should be rolling about now, but I just don't see it happening. Xxx

I have just started trying to learn Harlow. I put her on a blanket on the floor so she is sideways to the TV. She loves watching TV in the morning so I put her in a position where she really struggles to see and has to turn herself. I started tipping her over to the side to show her she can see better if she does that. So far she just looked at me as if to say "FFS mum leave me in peace!" x

They learn themselves but you can encourage by putting a favourite toy just out of reach

She doesn't really reach for toys though. She prefers the hanging ones on the mat. She's an awkward little bugger, has only discovered the tv, tends to prefer listening to music. Will give them a try. Xxx

That's him chewing on one half rolled.

He hasn't rolled yet he gets his arm stuck and gives up lol

D taught himself and rolls to get to toys that are out of reach. I used to put him on one side of his mat so he had to roll to the other to reach his favourite toy x

our LOs are same age as is the same she has no interest is rolling or reaching out for toys but will give them a good ol wack when on playmat she also does bear weight on legs which wonder weeks said she should be doing too. Im worrying that she isn't meeting her milestones when she should be

They are still too young to reach for toys I believe. K is just starting to try to grab for things hut has a hard time holding on. She has rolled tummy to back 5 times, but it is very random. She seems to forget how she did it every time lol. She is also a skinny baby so that makes it easier for her. I do hold her hands and make her roll so that she knows the movement. I think wonder weeks means that some babies can do this at that age, but certainly not all.

Tyler's forgotten how to roll front to back lol!

Yeah most just do it without having to be told, my LO can only roll onto his front but not from front onto back...he's nearly 7 months

What I do is lie down & hold their hand & kinda pull them gently over to the side, or put a toy out of reach

xxxxxxxx

I got Will to roll by laying him in his back and waving a toy above him, I moved it up and up So it went above tge back if his head and he sort of turned to follow it and eventually rolled. It's funny I couldn't wait for it but now I can't leave him for a second, he rolls across the room over and over and...he's had disturbed sleep since as he rolls in his sleep and bashing off the sides of his cot  x

I thought this too, Angel only just started holding toys properly at 3 months, rolled for the first time at around 4 months and now I can't stop her, she's rolling everywhere lol. What I did though was lie down next to her and coo at her and encourage her with the toys. I know it sounds weird but I lay down slightly above her to the side iykwim so she craned her neck to see me and rolled that way. I'll try and get a pic later so you can see what I mean :P but I wouldn't worry about rolling too much at that age xx

Thanks everyone. I just wondered if i should be encouaging it more. she loves lying on her back and just kicking, if shes on her front she seems more keen to dig her toes in to propell herself forward, rather than roll. so just thought id check. xxx
