I have a siberian husky, hes so placid but when hes on walks he pulls so much, to the point he drags me along and has pulled me over a few times as hes so strong!

I have 2 kiddies and am now a single mum, i have a phil and teds double and loads of fields near us but when iv taken him with me before on my own with the kids he pulls so much he nearly pulled pushchair over!

are there any anti pull collars or harnesses?
he had a body harness that tightens when he pulls but just chewed straight through it!

hehe he is lovely, my big cuddly teddy bear! lol x

Have you tried a gentle leader? You can buy them from most pet shops and it fits around their nose so that when they pull their head turns x

dam my dog is a rat i so should have got a big one lol x

I have a great Dane and two labs and I can't walk any of them without a halti . It's the same as what cosmic is talking about, the difference is amazing. Expect him to drag his nose on the floor when you walk him for the first 10-15min but they soon get used to it. Post a piccie btw I always wanted one but apparently they aren't good off the lead :( xx

id try what the other girls have said but you might struggle trying to stop him pulling altogether hun as thats what the breed are bred for...pulling...
xx

see hes fine of the lead, i just have to wistle and he comes running back to me and hes only 9 months old.
its just the pulling, its what hes good at haha
will deffo invest in one of the nose lead things x

ahhh haltis are a god send! Same principle as a horses head collar - we can control an animal that weighs a good few hundred pounds and has the ability to make us go where it wants just by a bit of material arounds its head and nose - as send before , makes their head turn when they pull. I've a youngster who pulls so much and still hasn't worked out it just means he wears himself out going in circles around me =S

Works amazingly with dogs of this breed though, its a gentle reinforcement that its not allowed and not wanted, if you pull- you'll have to look at something else and turn. They don't like it so give up eventually loll!!

Youre kidding right? You got a husky and now are bitching because it pulls.. Do you know what huskys were bred for? Did you do any research atall before you got it?

Dont get dogs you cant handle. And freaking learn about the breed first.

Momma kat I believe she was looking for advice rather than someone being rude to her with comments like that. Thank you.

Momma Kat I think that was uncalled for, just because a dog is bred for pulling as work it doesnt mean that it cant be trained to walk quietly on the lead next to a person. Lily was just after some advice to do the best for her dog, who sounds lovely by the way.

Eirgh I hate people like you momma cat who think they know everything, someones needs to fucking chill out!
i was asking for advice because he used to be ok on the lead for my ex and was great but for me he takes the piss. and no not ever single husky pulls just because they were originally used for pulling, dont be stupid use your brain and you get YOUR facts right first yeah love?

Cotch out ladies!! Momma kat I feel you may have been a little harsh with the way you expressed yourself. You could have just said it might be because he's a husky that he pulls a lot and it might not be easy to make him stop! That was all that it warranted.

Maybe lilly, he sees himself as slightly more dominant than you. In which case is there any way you can get a halti and try taking him out yourself with your poppy and joe? Take lots of treats with you for when he is good have you tried watching the dog whisperer,?? Sorry its a bit cheesy but really helped my mum with our two dogs! X

I felt attacked myself by your comments Momma Kat....... by your logic I shouldn't be able to lead my icelandic pony whose been a carthorse his whole life.... They're trained to pull because they're naturally a strong dog, but any dog can and will pull if they think they are dominant over whoevers on the other end of the lead.

The dog whisper is ace!! I think it was watching that who actually 'explained' to me exactly why someone thought to but a headcoller on a horse lol! a rope around their neck just doesn't work! loll!

XXXXX Hope your good Lilly btw xxxx

Ooohhh I love huskies!!!

My friend had a dog that pulled an awful lot and she bought one of those water squirters you attach to the dogs collar and every time he pulled she pushed the button to make it squirt. Seems a lil cruel but it did the trick within a few days and hey presto, big doggy is good as gold now!

When I first read the title, I thought he was just popular with the ladies :D

oohh one of the dogs on our yard has one of them collars lou! Whenever someone sees hi getting too close to the fields we've to press it, but it's turned into a game now lol! He'll lay there watching you and the moment you turn around he scuttles forward a little bit then lays back down and watches you lol!

HAHAHHA Love that one knopk ..... can I be honest - the thought passed through my mind too haha =D

Dog whisperer is fantastic. His advice on training helped my OH train our border collie. He has loads of books which you could probably hire from a library xx
