I have a spare 5 minutes to type up Sam's birth story. I'll try to keep it short!!
Monday 14th April was my due date and I woke up to find I had started bleeding, i ended up going to the hospital to be checked over and they said I had just had a heavy show and to go home! This carried on for 2 days I was getting pains and ended up going backwards and forwards to the hospital only to be told this could carry on for weeks. On Wednesday I had a consultant appointment and he booked me in to be induced on the 26th April this really made me mad because i had told him i was in pain and couldn't take much more.
Around 6pm on Wednesday evening the pains were coming every ten minutes and I carried on like this until 2am Thursday morning so I called the hospital and they told me it wasn't established labour and to call back if they became more regular. Almost immediately they began to come every 6 minutes but although they hurt I was managing fine with it because I didn't believe they were contractions as the pains were all in my back.
At 3.30 am I woke OH up as he slept totally unawares through all this and told him I had to get to hospital quick as the contractions were now every 3 - 4 mins I called the hospital while he was getting ready and they still tried to put me off going in because they were very busy
By the time we were ready to go contractions were 2 mins apart and I ended up leaning over my car in the drive telling OH we needed an ambulance becuase I wanted to push, he somehow got me in the car and on the way the car cut out, we needed petrol and it was a 20minute drive away
When i got to the hospital i was doing everything i could to not push OH had to coax me through process of getting to the labour ward. When we finally got upstairs i was getting myself worked into a right state because i knew this baby was coming and the Midwife wouldn't let me on the ward because I hadn't been assessed first and you have to be assessed before Labour and Delivery let you in
I apparently shouted at her through the intercom that I was going no where and she had better let me in now
The Midwife came out to me and took one look and told OH to go into the delivery room whilst in the meantime I was hanging onto the nurses station breathing through a contraction this was 4.25am. I left my slippers in the corridor and ended up in the first availble delivery room, after managing to climb on the bed I asked the Midwife if could push because i really needed to and she said yes do what you need to (this was without being examined or them even reading my notes) after the first push my waters went and Sam's head came out at the same time then with my second oush the rest of him followed. He was born at 4.31am 6 minutes after I had entered the delivery suite!!
I had no time for pain relief and I can't believe how quick it was over with I never even needed stitches. He really should have been born in my car or the hospital corridor I honestly don't know how I stopped my self pushing.
That's ended up being really long winded and there are probably bits I have missed out but after worrying for weeks about giving birth I can honestly say the plans you make end up going out of the window and you never quite know how it's going to happen!
Well done if you managed to keep up with all that willpost pics when I get another spare few mins
