sacral dimple?

This is a strange one but do any of your LO's have a sacral dimple? Just wondering cos shan has and i'm a bit worried as i've only just noticed.

Vincent has one, and it's quite deep, but both paediatrician and GP said it wouldn't create problems.

Yeh both me and dd have and so has my dad so I am thinking it could be heriditary.
They told me it wasnt anything to worry about when she was born, its not deep, its just like her bum crack stops, and then carries on again iykwim? Its quite common.
I've never really had any problems- I've got strange dimples though cos I have 4 of them.

I never knew I was different till after dd was born, and then my mam told me when i was born they had checked me out because of it. I shouldnt worry xx

Noah's got one! When he had his checks at hospital, she did mention it. I'd never heard of it or knew babies got it, so she casually mentioned it and I was like "Wooooah.. what's that? Is it serious?" and she said no but it will get checked when he's a bit older.

Ella has one too! I got confirmation from the paediatrician and my gp and then asked the health visitor all said as long as you can clearly see where it ends then it's nothing to worry about!!

I googled and wished I didn't!!!

Don't google (although I did once and the hair thing scared me!)
2% have it so (me and) our babies are very special I would just think of it as a little quirk.

I think the main thing to be mindeful is making sure no gunk gets missed when cleaning.

Aw that's girls, I'm glad she isn't the only one lol i didn't realise how common they are, it's made me feel better reading your replies, I'll update once I've took her the doc cos they've not see it yet. I would of thought it would of been spotted at birth but it wasn't thanks again x

I mentioned it to my Mum a few years ago and she wasn't even aware that I had such a thing I haven't had any problems with it, although I had some neurological thing going on with my face once and did wonder whether it was related. The docs all said no and didn't even want to look at it...fancy that? I offer to show my ass and they didn't want to know!

OMG! My daughter has this - I had no idea what it was called. The GP saw it at her 6 week check but didn't really comment. I've just Googled though (I know - stupid me!) and this benign spina bifida thing has scared me! Has anyone else been referred for this?

lol i have a lil bump there that i used to say was my tail. i think its just the end of the spine sort of or something like that. vestigial tail yay.

All i did was worry when i noticed shan's, but once my HV had a look she said "o right that seems fine my lo has one too" she didn't seem concerned at all, next time i go the doc's i will point it out to be sure, please don't worry and stop googling!!! It scared me to death looking it up. x

Its a little dimple at the base of the spine, just where the buttock crack (sorry cant phrase any better lol) starts, as someones said it looks like the crack stops and then starts again.
My dad has one, I have one and so does Mhairi just makes sure it stays clean, hers is quite deep and mine was when i was born too apparently but its barely noticable now

I googled also and wish i hadnt lol naughty google!
