Hi hun, need some advice. Was looking at buying a new buggy as mine is quite bulky but have been reaading about baby wearing and I want to be a baby wearer :D . I have got a mothercare carrier and to be honest I don't like it that much, have seen the coorie slings and if I rfemember rightly you recommended I got one of these ages ago. How easy are they to use? Do you carry Ella round in the heat? I am really useless with anything too complicated and to be honest they scare me a bit but think they look really cool too. Please help.

People that carry their babies in slings.

Bright Spark Slings emailed me last night about their new summer peerie pouches, the fabrics are GORGEOUS!! http://www.brightsparkslings.co.uk/ I love the Ruby peerie.

Have you been on that website we discussed ;) They are very good at helping you get started with baby wearing, the help I got was really useful :)

oooh I love the rubie peerie too. I take it they are good for summer as they are cotton?

Yeah they are really thin cotton. I've got one, but not the new material which is stretchier. I tend to carry Ella with her legs crossed sitting forwards. I'll pop her in tomorrow and get DH to take a pic.

Also there is a whole world of different slings out their. I have an beautiful Onbu from here: http://www.babyspaceslings.com/pages/on ... ctions.php

And a Mei Tai that was made for me by an Ebay seller. I did have a couple other Mei Tais but I sold them as I didn't really like them that much.

I have a ringsling made by the lady that sells Freedom Slings on Ebay, that's lovely. A really pretty pale pink. Fantastic for breastfeeding when baby is tiny.

I haven't tried a wrap sling yet, but think that we would get on well with them.

I will pop a couple more links on after BB to some selling/swap baby wearing sites etc.

x

lovely as it sounds i don't think i could do it with my chunk of a baby... when he was younger he was in his baby carrier about 16 out of 24 hrs due to his reflux (only way he'd sleep) but the other day i put him in it and walked 500metres to the shops - it was KILLING me, my whole body ached by the time i came back!!!

Honestly the other type of baby carriers like the soft ones (mei tais/onbus) are so much more comfy. I can comfortably carry Ella for ages and she's about 18lb now. I did have a Tomy one but wore it once and that was it as it was sooooooo uncomfy!

sorry out of topic but how did my post appear twice?? weird...

I thought you were just ensuring we all saw it

oh, cool... i've just googled mei-tai, and thay look cool! there are patterns too - i might get the trusty sewing machine out and make one!

thanks for the idea kina!! :D

I have hypothetically spent £100s already, they are fab.

Of course you could make your own.... :D - if you're any good with a machine I can post some links to 'make your own' sites.

I've just ditched a coorie you could have had too as a 'try and see'. Its one of Brightsparks too but now J is way too big for it and now in a temporary mei tai until his new Patapum arrives.

 if i sew one and it turns out ok, maybe i could start making them and selling them to get an income as i'm not returning to my job... hmmmm... sorry, hijacking this thread i've realised, but how much do you think peoplewould pay for one? could even make them custom made with personal details etc...

i'll shut up and leave your thread alone now!

hmmm, if you saw my sewing skills - lets just say I wouldn't carry a hamster in it let alone a 5 month old baby lol.

Petchy let us know how you get on.

Rosie I have the feeling this is going to be as addictive as cloth.

I quite fancy trying one but its hard to tell from the piccies. For newborn for instance, isnt the baby snuggled in too much and could it fall out. I know thats a silly question but i would be scared the baby would go flying. I like the idea of one as I shall have a 2 year old to run after. And I mean run, she is gaining speed daily.

ah I take it you know eachother?? tell us more about yourself Hillbilly
