I'm 36 +6 today and over the last 4/5 days babies movements have gradually reduced, not enough to panic me but it does seem that they are significantly less. I don't know whether it ties in with him moving from breech/transverse to finally head down, so he is more 'settled' now whereas before I was used to lots of big movements with him turning etc.

I did have reduced movements with my last- but he literally stopped moving one day and didn't move again and when I went in for monitoring he was distressed so I was induced straight away... I definitely don't have the same concerns this time, but I'm just wondering if a gradual reduction in movement towards the end is normal?

I'm seeing my midwife later today so will talk to her about it too.

hi monkeynut didnt want to read and run...i believe movements do alter in final weeks due to lack of space but also if your baby has gone full 180 they will feel totally different as well...c what midwife says...

mayflower...they are right about during! i felt her head turning whilst crowning (wierdest sensation ever!) as well as kicks as if to say hurry up mum cant stay 50/50 forever lol....

Hi, my midwife said I should call them as soon as I felt a change in movement so might be with a phone call? X

There seems to be a lot of focus on counting the kicks at the moment so I am sure your midwife would be happy for you to give her a call to double check. My midwife told me that if during a usual active time I feel her move more than 10 times in an hour then it should be ok x

Get checked hun better to be safe for you and baby
Hope all is ok x

My baby's movements have changed rather than reduced as time as gone on. I do think it's cause he has less room. I can still feel him, but rather than kicks and jabs, it's the sensation of him moving into different positions I can feel. But I still feel him as much as I would usually.

After my experience over this last week, I would always go to either the hospital or MW to get checked!

Hopefully it's just that baby has less space now ur on the home straight ;)
Always best to ask midwife though x

Phone your midwife mine said they don't do the whole count how many kicks in so many hours ect as its not accurate and to phone if there is a change.
They are there for you and if in doubt phone no matter what
