Heya - I haven't quite got to 'obviously pregnant stage' being only just ten weeks pregnant (I think not confirmed with scan yet!) but like to be organised.

Can anyone recommend some good places to buy some key bits for work clothes (not suits, more trousers and few nice tops) and have wedding in April where I will be a lot bigger I am sure so would like a party dress! I also don't want to spend a fortune. Pre-pregnancy I am a size 16

I got 2 skirts in Jojo Maman Bebe for £25 in the sale and I have to say they are casual but quite smart casual (I wouldn't wear them to work though) but they are the comfiest thing I have ever worn!

*edit* oh and I'm a size 18/20 pre maternity clothes (I carry weight round my tummy) and could actually easily get into the 18, I could have gone down to a 16 easily.

I bought the majority of my clothes from NEXT - and also bought a few nice 2nd hand items from Ebay (especially when I was off on my summer holiday).

To save money I also shopped in Matalan - and bought tops/trousers etc in a size or 2 bigger than I would normally wear - until I had to invest in actual maternity clothes!

I bought a lot of clothes from the Next Directory last time and also Red Herring in Debenhams had a few nice things, also H & M sometimes get some nice stuff in. I kept all my maternity clothes from before I am going to dig them out soon but I think a shopping spree maybe in order in a couple of months as it won't be in fashion anymore (any excuse :D ).

xxxxxx

Thank you ! I was looking at the Next website and the choices seemed quite restricted but perhaps I will actually go outside of the house and brave the cold and have a look inside.

Thank you all for your advice - wouldn't have thought of Ebay!

Apparently maternity isn't available in the shops for next.

I've seen it in a few of their shops - I think it's just the larger stores though.

I've got a few bits from Mamas & Papas too, and they're really good, especially for going-out type stuff. They have a gorge maxi dress in their new s/s collection, but at £85, I think I'll wait and see if ends up on sale!

this may sound like a really stupid question but when I buy maternity clothes, do I buy my 'normal pre pregnancy' size. i.e. I'm a size 10-12 so will the maternity clothes still be a 10-12?

Luckily I dropped a dress size a couple of months before I found out I was pregnant and because it was due to being ill I never bought new clothes so I think I've got at least a month before I grow out of my normal clothes.

Yes, just buy your normal size, but at first you might need a size down until your bump starts to get bigger. A lot of the trousers and skirts have adjustable elastic waistbands though, so you can buy your normal size and just let it out as you get bigger.

great thanks. I told my OH I was going to get some dungarees and he laughed saying I was going to look like an idiot. That sealed the deal - def going to get some now just to annoy him.
I think they'll be super comfy - everyone wore them in the 80s! Plus I can just keep adjusting the buckles as I get bigger!

I really want some dungarees too.
Thats what my mum wore when she was pregnant with me, i want to wear them too lol.
xx

I want some dungarees too :D i had a pair last time i was preggers and i practicaly lived in them

H&M and New look do really nice stuff thats not too expensive and is quite trendy! I shopped in only those 2 places last time and planning to do the same again!

For dungees - mothercare still do them!

Im further ahead than all of you at 25+3 but I saw this and thought Id say New Look stuff is great prices and the same quality as the more expensive stuff. And just beware when you're looking, I was in H and M with a non pregnant friend, she was browsing in the normal clothes and came over with a stretchy black top she liked, Id found the EXACT same top in maternity, no difference at all as it was stretchy material anyway, same size and everything but . . . £4 more expensive in the maternity range   I refused to buy anything from them after that! The only difference was it had a different label to show it was maternity and the other wasnt reduced or anything as I checked!!

As for sizing, most of what Im wearing is my previous clothes size although I would recommend that you try things on if you can because its seems that all shops vary slightly and some things come up huge and some are already tight on me now!!
