Just fallen out with Daniel cos we've been to his mam and dads tonight and his dad said to me 'you're not babysitting again (they had a baby 3 weeks ago) cos Alfie cried all night after you'd had him!' This happened to be the night that we looked after last friday him cos they went to a wedding party and his dad came in pissed out of his head. Alfie also has colic and cries most nights but ohhhhh no, it must've been the way I looked after him that night

As if that wasnt bad enough, they've never even mentioned my pregnancy even though they've known for a week! When we told them they just said 'Oh'. No congratulations or anything, they havent even asked when its due, not one single word. I think his mothers scared the limelight wont be on her new baby anymore. It was so hard for me when she was pregnant as we'd been trying without success for ages. I got on with it and asked how she was and stuff every time I saw her though. When Alfie was finally born I let the past go and was at their house all the time getting involved and stuff. Well seeing as Im no good with their baby I think I'll just stay out of the way again now!

Sorry, I just had to get that out. Im sitting here crying, I cant believe they're so selfish

Aww hun, i didn't want to read and run

Why have you fallen out with Daniel over this?

Tell them fine i won't babysit again so you can go get pissed and oh by the way i'm fine thanks for asking!!!!

I can't understand why they are not mentioning your pregnancy, thats so heartless

Don't know what to advice but i hope you feel better for venting

Daniel told me not to take it to heart but I did....I dont think Im being too sensitive. I dont know, Im just sick of pretending to be happy for them and stuff when they cant even do the same for me. Daniel says theyre not the type of people to say congratulations! Yet thats the first thing I said to them 9 months ago when they announced they were expecting! What are they gonna do when my babys born, have a quick look at him or her and say 'oh thats nice'??!! Can you tell Im pissed off? lol

LOL let it out hun, thats what we are here for!!!

Personally i don't think you are being over sensitive at all

What is his mum like? could you maybe take her for a coffee and have a girly chat? let her know how you feel without going mad?( as hard as that would be?)

Do not let it eat away at you, you don't need the stress

just try and let it go over your head hun

Hi hun sorry to hear your feeling crappy, some people just dont put their brains in gear when they speak (e.g. Daniels dad!!)

He probably said it as a joke but being pregnant you may have taken it a little to heart, im sure he didnt mean it at all.

Speak to Daniel about your concerns regarding his mum and dad, let him know that their attitude is making you feel a bit upset. If you can Id also mention it to his mum yourself, she probably isnt even aware she has upset you by dismissing the situation and obviously has a lot on her hands with a young baby.

Im sure if you open up you will get all the support and the whole family will come to their senses and feel a bit guilty for ignoring the situation.

Let us know how it goes xxx

Inlaws!

luckily mine live in Sweden

Ignore them! if they don't want to be excited that they're having a grandchild then it's their loss!

Maybe you shouldn't take it out on OH though, he can't help that his parents are miserable.

Try to cheer up and next time when you have to visit, stay in bed instead with morning sickness, tell them you've felt ill since you last went to theirs :rotfl:

I cant talk to them, we've never been close. I dont even think they like me that much to be honest. His mam just laughs at everything, i dunno if its nervous laughter or what but when we told them we lost one a few years ago she laughed, when we told them we lost one last month she laughed and when we told them im pregnant last week she started laughing her head off but wouldnt look me in the eye

They can do no wrong in Daniels eyes, even if they're in the wrong he wont admit it, he'll stick with them rather than me. It just really hurt me that they didnt even say thanks for babysitting yet they were quick to blame me cos their baby wouldnt rest afterwards. He was only 17 days old, maybe he was restless cos they werent there. They really are nice people but their attitudes have got me completely confused :? :(

Sweetie - don't take it to heart - in-laws can be incredibly insensitive, and our hormones make us less able to deal with these things. Maybe they are jealous but I'm sure they'll get over it and by the time your little poppet is born they will be all over him/her I'm sure.

They were asking a lot asking anyone to baby-sit a 17 day old baby - you did nothing to make him cry - that's what newborn babies do especially those with colic, and it was really good of you to step in and volunteer.

Go easy on yourself and try and de-stress  .
