We thought we had out name (Lillian), but we both agreed it would be shortened to Lily which isn't what we want so we've now decided against it.

We then decided on Molly, but this isn't set in stone. I do love the name and it was my suggestion, but I just don't know if our baby is Molly.

We're now 8 weeks today away from planned section and although that seems like a lot of time we just can't decide. It's not like we've got loads of names to choose between, we just genuinely don't know :-/

Any suggestions of a lovely girly name that isn't too popular (I love Evelyn,Evie, etc but so popular at the moment)?

I just feel like she'll be here before we know it and then go days without a name :-/

Thanks :)

(Her middle name will be Gloria, after my hubby's mum)

X

I love the name Elouise/Eloise which is similar to the names you already like? It's one of the names on our girls lost that both me and OH love. x

Imogen, jemima, tabatha, lara, persephonie, Araya, Erin, Lydia, ebony, whitney...the list is endless.

Isn't Etienne French for Steven? I thought it was a boys name

Hi Jolly

Just a thought - I love names that end with an "-en" or "-ee" sound, and from the sound of it, I think you do too?

A few weeks ago I came across an internet site that allowed to to search for free on names that ended a particular way.

I can't find it now, but I did come across this reasonably-large list of girls' names, which might be food for thought:

http://babynames.allparenting.com/babynames/Tips/Baby_Girl_Names_Ending_in_-en_and_-an/

p.s. in the end, managed to find 3 boy names ending with these sounds that we both liked, so finally happy :)

I can suggest you my fav list if you do not mind) so here it is:
Evangeline
Eva/Ava/Eve
Olive/Olivia
Penelope
Amber
Elodie
Clementina
Vivienne/Vivian
Persephone
Luna
Serena
Heather

Hi Jolly

We're thinking of Lillian too (after my mother, who was actually called Gillian), but like you I'm apprehensive about the shortening of lily.

That said, my nephew is called Samuel and nobody shortens it to Sam because the parents don't, so I guess it's how you handle it

I've just started on a list of alternatives (cutting it a bit fine lol). So far:
Ursula
Esme
Willow
Winter
Brienne

Thanks everyone- there's some nice suggestions, I just don't love anything at all- that sounds so terrible I know but I just can't find a single name I love :-( I've been on so many websites looking for suggestions and I really can't think of anything.

I think we're going to stick with Molly, but I've told hubby I definitely need to see baby.

It's just so different to my son who we just knew was a Freddie from 18 weeks!! I almost feel guilty about it!

I know a couple that were set on a name for their baby boy for months, then when he arrived and they saw him, they changed their minds completely and went for a name neither of them had suggested until that moment! Definitely don't feel guilty for it, it's a good thing really, as you obviously care too much to just choose anything!! It will come to you when you see the baby :) xx

We took over a week after our LO was born to settle on a name. And even then it was none of the names we had on our original list!

Its a big decision, I don't think it should be rushed into.

my youngest daughters name is Honey and middle name Rose. She gets so many lovely comments when people hear what her name is

I love the name honey!!! My son has a honey at nursery and he loves her - we saw her at soft play and he just ran around after her shouting "unnie, unnie, unnie"!!! (She's spelled Honei)

I've mentioned it to hubby and he thinks it's chavvy (please don't be offended by that catswiskers!) but I don't think it is at all, I think it's such a pretty and happy name :)

I'm not offended at all. I chose it because its unusual and cute as a child's name but also a pretty name when they are older x

girls names are hard to pick because there are so many pretty names. My eldest is summer

Ah I love summer too!!!! Although one of my closest friends has told me for years that's her name so I literally would never be forgiven.

I really do love Honey, when there's not many names I like I have to cling to the ones I do!!! :)

I'm sure you can persuade the hubby lol it is a lovely name

Don't worry if you don't have a definite name, we had a shortlist of girls names but none of them suited her when she was born. We took 24 hours to decide in the end and it was only when I said she looks like a Belle we realised she would be called Annabelle, Belle for short. The funny thing was OH had actually vetoed the name when I had mentioned it. It suits her perfectly and everyone always comments how pretty it is xxx
