Like the title says, really dont want to :shakehead:

That's ok, its up to you and if you don't want to that's fair enough :D

Me neither to be honest, i have thought about it a lot and the thought just makes me feel a little odd.

Saying that i am going to try my best to let baby have the colostrum(sp?) though.

i keep having nightmares that when i finally have bubba the midwife will be angry with me coz i dont want to after all the pressure they put me under in the last few weeks, including a LOVELY (!) DVD to watch

Im taking formula and bottles to hospital, although some tell me hospitals sometimes provide it.

with my first baby the midwife was a bit pushy. she didnt mention breast feeding till i was ready to push she told me to take my nighty off so i was naked so baby could go straight on breast. i was intimidated so just done what she said. but luckly her shift finished and a different midwife took over she was lovely. she said its mu coice, she didnt breast feed her child so she knows where im coming from.
2nd baby they tryed telling me. i told them straight to do 2 do 1 i didnt want to i know al the beninfits but i had made my decision. she never mentioned it again untill she came round a few days later once my milk came in and gave me a lil dig by saying "all that milk going to waste :shakehead: "

no one can make you hun, just stand your ground x x x

The midwives and docs all try and encourage breastfeeding. I have had thrush and now have mastitis and am so depressed about it and still got a lecture from my doc today when I said I sometimes feel like giving up!

If you don't want to do it then just say NO and be strong... the MW's can be quite bossy. I put it in my notes that i didn't even want to try and that i didn't want to discuss it. They never mentioned after reading my notes... :D Don't be bullied into something you don't want to do, And don't feel guilty if you don't want to do it...

x

thanks you all

hope you are feeling better soon skatty, thrush is a nightmare, its darkened my world too many times

I know you have already had a lot of good replies to this but just wanted to add that being a new mother is scary enough and obviously life changing without having the added pressure of doing something you don't feel comfortable with. Remember it is your baby, your body, your choice and motherhood is much more than how you chose to feed your child in the first few months !!

Hi

i quite agree. if it makes you miserable fook it!

I totally agree with everything that has been said but just wanted to add that I felt exactly the same as you when I was pregnant but as soon as I had had Finn I gave it a try and we're still going strong!

I didnt like it too, and will not be doing it with my next one.

And i also got some nasty comments from midwifes and HV's but when i was leaving the hospital i had a love midwife that said she would rather i go home a happy mum with a baby on bottle then a sad mum TRYING to breast feed. xxxx

I know its not for every one but give it a go.....Think about the benfits to your baby! (even if its not for long, every day will be good for you and your baby)

just because the MW prefer it doesnt mean u have to do it, ur baby ur choice just tell them if they want to breast feed their babies they can. There was no chance on this earth i was going to breast feed, for one i was open to the whole daddy helping feed, i did plan to extract but after 21 hrs of labour they were keen to get alfie fed and when they asked how i was planning on feeding him i was so tired i just said bottle, and havent regretted it at all, hes thriving hes happy and he hasnt lost an ounce of weight since he was born. Breast feeding helps by strengthening the immune system but if you dont feel comfortable doing it it makes things worse for u and babies pick up on tension, get some bottles a good steriliser and dont worry. Now all you need to do is decide on a formula ... Aptamil is great by the way lol, its really close to breast milk too
