i'm sorry to bring this topic up again as i know there have been a lot of posts about this but i am more confused about it than ever

i don't fancy trying the tea as everyone has said its horrible. i want to try the tablets and i know its been said you can get them from holland and barretts so thats not a problem. what i'm so confused about is

when do you start taking them?

how many a day?

and how long for?

Depends where you look a to when to take them

Midwives will say dont take before 36/37 weeks as they dont want it to induce early labour (even though theres no evidence of this)

Some sites say to start drinking the tea at 28 weeks just one cup a day and progress up to three.

I think other sites will recommend starting later.

I started the tea at 28 weeks but will be moving on to tablets at 34 weeks, i will be taking 3 tablets a day until 36 weeks then 6 up until labour.

Tablets are recommended from about 36/37 weeks.

Healthfood stores stock them. Average tablet size is 400mg.

You can take up to 6 a day around thsi size, usually 2 per meal time. Build up to the full dose over a period of time, don't just go straight in and start on the max dose.

Have a read of this page here. It does suggest starting the tablets sooner, but I erred on the side of caution and stuck to tea at 32 weeks till 36. It wasn't that bad to drink, just I could not manage 4/5 cups a day at the maximum. Plus the tablets are meant to work better overall.
