I'm the only one of my close friends (who I see properly) who is expecting a baby or has a baby in my town. I really would like some friends who have babies because it will be a little bit different with my other friends when baby is here. They will still be leading single lives and have no cares in the world etc.

How do you meet friends with babies lol? Hope I don't sound like a freak lol!

PS I haven't been to any antenatal classes. I do plan on taking him to baby swimming classes and a baby group if I can find a decent one. There is nothing much around my town. xx

I was just about to suggest a baby group. Someone I know added me to a local mumsnet group on facebook which is a private group. You could have a search to see if there is one in your area

x

Just tried searching for a local mumsnet group but there isn't one for my town. My town is rubbish for services. xx

Maybe youll meet people at the hospital? Im planning on getting out and about and checking out any baby groups i can find! I think a lot of women must be in the same boat x

Yeh I hoping by going to baby classes I will meet other mums. I definitely don't want to be stuck indoors not socialising. xx

Is there a sure start center near you as they will know when all the baby groups are.
Like the pp said you may meet people in the hospital especially if you are staying in for a couple of days.
I have met a few people from Netmums and joined a group and you can always do a meet mum thing where you post that you want to meet new mums in the area you live. Its been hard for me this time too as i have a older child but none of the mums i met through her have younger children and im like you i just want some friends with little children

Whereabouts do you live?
I was the only one of my friends who had children when I had DD and I was too shy to go to baby groups etc and I was pretty much alone until she went to nursery which obviously wasn't ideal! I'd def recommend baby groups, if you breastfeed you could go to breastfeeding groups or if there isn't much in your area you could look at starting something? I'm involved in running a parent and toddler group which has given me confidence and I've met loads of other mums!

I'm just searching Netmums at the minute. Thank you. xx

Just joined the Netmums Facebook group for my town and they organise meet ups. Think they organise weekly meet ups. Just need them to accept my friend request. xx

I live in S****horpe, a town in North Lincolnshire. xx

I met Cherelle from here, and advertised on netmums where I found someone but she went off the radar around the time her baby was due and she hasn't replied to texts since. I used the net to find local baby groups near me, and when I was in Chelt I used a surestart centre. I happen to have a load of mates with babies but we're scattered all over the UK!

Aw :( miles away from me! The netmums thing sounds good though x

You could go to surestart groups. They have lots of activities going on all the time and different courses for the mums to do something for themselves. I didn't have any joy with netmums either. When your LO gets a bit older you can also go to soft play and mother and baby groups/toddler groups.

I do seem to be miles away from everyone on here Helen! xx
