quick question about renting private and the locata

I have been put in band c since November. there's 4 bands in my area d being the lowest. Theres about a 5-10 year waiting list in band c atm. I know of your made homeless and the council put you in a private flat/house you remain in band c until you are successful with the locata. But if you find your own private place do you then get moved back in to band d because your not homeless or overcrowded etc?

I think you get removed altogether as you no longer need council housing x
