Quick labour?

I had all the same worries and I was fine. Obviously it does happen but it usually gets to a point where you think right the baby is actually coming  depends on how you go too like I say first time my waters went before I managed to dilate fully so he shot out. But last time I dilated and sat in water for 4hr before I had to get waters burst and out he came.

So try chillax about it. Xxx

The problem is my previous labour was 4 hours from start to finish, and they generally get quicker with each subsequent baby, so it's something I need to plan for

My sisters third baby came in 45 minutes, on the living room floor. It was the most mental thing I've ever experience. I loved it, although my poor sister said it was the worst birth for her. There's been no rhyme or reason to her labours though, her first was a week late and an assisted delivery, her second was a spontaneous labour at 35 weeks and third was 3 days late and 45 minute established labour. She's been told if she gets pregnant again she'll get induced at 39 weeks to avoid that happening again.

My sister said she knew things were happening really quickly though, with it being your third I think you'll recognise the signs. If you feel you don't have time I wouldn't hesitate to call an ambulance xx

Thanks MrsS, I think I just need to not feel silly about ringing for the blue lights

Yes, aware they sometimes can be quicker. If we talking start to finish my second was into the days as apposed to first being hours.

Aside from having a phone handy and phoning an ambulance when and if waters go and baby is gonna come I had no planning. Unless your induced sadly you cannot plan any stage of labour or time or where you are it's a deal with it when it happens and hope it goes as near to our plan as I'd like

How long was your previous labour Belfa?

4 hours from waters breaking to delivery and only 10 mins of pushing - that's the bit I'm worried about most as he literally flew out!

He was also born at 36weeks x

Same as my labour Belfa, I think you go into shock when it's that quick!

I think my previous two have confused me a bit about how soon after your waters breaking stuff happens. With my first my waters went by themselves as 6am and I was about 1-2cm dilated and I had irregular contractions until they put me on a drip to make them more regular and then I gave birth 18 hours later. With my second I was induced but was about 2-3 hours into established labour 7cm dilated and my waters hadn't gone themselves and they (with difficulty) broke them for me and he was born about an hour or so later. So really no idea. I think I'll just be going for the 'get me to the hospital now' approach whenever I feel the first hint of something! But as I've said I'm fairly sure I'm going to end up being induced - just got a feeling that's how it will go x

That would confuse me too Rose, I think you're doing the right thing by wanting to get in quick. Especially with little ones to sort out too! I think we will be taking our little ones with us rather than me going on my own and hubby going later, at least that way my mom can pick the boys up and hubby can stay with me. It'll be relief once the whole thing is over and they're here!

My first labour was just under 4hours but ended with an emcs at 7cm. 2nd labour was 6hrs from first niggles, but was only at hospital 30mins before he was born and that was by asking to go to hospital to be checked out as I was concerned I couldn't sit down and was getting contractions every 2-3mins. My 3rd labour was induced at just 38 mins long!! He seriously wasn't hanging around lol

I think it is always good to have a plan in place if you labour quickly xx

Blimey they were very quick Kanga! Hubby is starting a new job soon that's a little further away so we're having to rejig plans slightly. It's a pain that he doesn't drive, as I have no one that can get to me quickly to get me in to the hospital. I think it will have to an ambulance job with the kids and they'll have to stay with us until family can collect them
