I'm booked in for a sweep on Tues, my due date is Thurs.

My question is....do you think I will be ok to go for a very quick look round the shops straight after the sweep?

It will involve me walking 15 mins to the bus and probably about 20 mins in the shop then bus home.

I mean pain wise, coz i've heard they can cause cramps ect.

Thanks

:)

I think I went shopping after mine tbh. I didn't have any cramps afterwards, only some later that evening. Guess its a case of playing by ear :)

I had 2 sweeps which didn't work although I did lose my mucous plug in the evening after the 2nd one.
I would say you'd be fine going shopping straight after, just take some paracetamol as you may have a little cramping (well, I did).
Good luck & hope it works!!! Xxx

Thanks ladies

Think i'm gonna risk it & just go out - worst case senario...i get a taxi straight home!!

:)

You should be fine. I had 2 sweeps and they didn't really have any effect on me at all. I didn't have any cramping. x

I think it is different for everyone. I had my sweep at 11am and started getting cramps within half hour. Then by 3pm I was in labour. BUT i was already 6 days overdue so maybe that's why it was quick with me.

I went for a 4 mile walk in the woods after mine to try and get things moving! Looking back that probably wasn't the safest thing to do lol. But I didn't have any cramps anyway.
Hope it gets things going for you!

I had 4 sweeps and none of them worked. I had a little more discharge than normal so as long as you have a pad on you should be ok. I had no cramps at all either.

Youll be fine, I walked to my sweeps and back again, No cramps but loadsa mucus! Just be aware of how far along you are for them, When i had my second one, she had to go careful cause my waters were at bursting point, she said she coulda burst em right them and there, and that night my hindwaters went.

I had three! I walked home after all of them n its an hours walk x

Thanks ladies

After all that carry on, I never got one. I went for my normal appointment, she didn't say anything about it - & neither did I - was happy to go w/out it tbh. I'm now booked for one for a weeks time..

When I'd my first sweep afterward i was walking around shops, standing on my feet for too long.. my advice to you,...take your friend or hubby or even your mum and go for window shopping till you drop and repeat the routine for next day as well. I had my sweep on Friday and give birth on Monday although i was booked in for induction on Thursday... so alot walking will definitely help and of you've pain dont sit walk around to quick your process.. Good luck you should be fine¬

I went out of my way to walk walk walk after mine!

oooof the idea of walking makes me wanna go back to bed - my body is absolutely aching, need to walk 20mins to the post office 2moz & really not looking forward to it, god knows what i'll be like in 4 days when I get my sweep.

i found id have days i didnt have the energy to get out of bed, and other days i was rearing to go! just listen to your body, if your not up for it, can someone go for you?
