I was just wondering at what stage people were when they were put on clomid? I was thinking of asking my GP about giving it a go but i dont really know what theyd say to that? Can you ask to try it or will they want further tests? Its nearly been 2 years ttc for us :wall:

Hi Jenna, not got any advice to offer you hun, but didn't want to read and run. I would go and see your GP and ask if you can try it.

hi jenna

i am going through this at the mo', it depends what stage that you are at, me and DH have to go to the hospital in september to discuss clomid, i was given loads of info the last time i went.

you can always ask, i did and then i got refered.

next month i am starting provera and then i have to have a hsg and more blood tests, and if everything goes to plan the doctor will be giving me clomid in september.

what tests have you had if you don't mind me asking?

I had my hormones checked and they came back ok :) They did find cycts on my ovaries which hasnt been looked into other than just measureing them and saying that i have them.

well recently i had an internal ultrasound, i asked my gp to refer me to the fertility clinic, whichi have already had an appointment when i was there i was told that i had to have the internal ultrasound and i was also given a sheet of all the blood tests and thing that had to be done before our appointment in september.

on the sheet was;
bloodtests days 1-3
hormone test
blood test (around day 21 i think)
smear (yikes)
and a test for chlymidia (sp)

best bit was that dh just had to wee in a cup! :shakehead:

and i am also booked in for a hsg next month (they pour dye through your tubes to see for blockages)

and then...i will probably be given clomid, as she gave me information on it at our first appointment...

oh, and i think that there was talk of a hiv test.

the nurse at the hospital said the best thing about it when she asked me how i felt about it all,

i said "nothing can ever be easy, can it" to which she replied

'If you have to struggle and work hard for something you cherish, love and appreciate it more"

i thought that was fantastic.

As far as I know just having a little chit chat with MW in general about other pregnancies, she did mention that ladies do go on Clomid and have high success rates but if someone has cysts then they try and not put them on clomid ..but you should discuss this with your doc definately...

Are you ovulating?

My understanding of Clomid is to get the follicles to a size of at least 18mm  so the egg is released.

I have pcos and tried 13 cycles of Clomid as I don't ovulate.
