Putting myself here for now!

Donna, glad you're feeling more positive:-) Sounds like we'll have a nice bunch of ladies ttc at the same time x

Haha I'm the same with trying to plan every detail, I know my periods aren't regular anymore but I have still worked out when I should be due in May and June to think about when would be best to start trying. I've worked out if I do have 28 day cycles from now on we may start after my May period... depending on how we feel or maybe leave it until the June one. But that is the earliest we will start now.

The whole weight loss thing is happening very slowly though, not helped by what I ate yesterday either haha. I'm fine during the week but weekends I seem to be struggling to behave myself. Which is resulting in extremely slow losses over the months (In Jan I lost a grand total of 2lbs) I'll never be at my target before we start trying if I keep it up like that, but then we have lots of things on now as well so I can't really stick to it 100% (although yesterday could have been better I chose to have a calzone and onion rings when I could have had salmon and rice...)

mmm... calzone and onions rings yumm!!! lol! I can see how you'd choose that over fish and rice;-) Are you part of Slimming World or WW? or doing your own diet? I see from your ticker you've lost 15lbs already which is great! Personally when I'm on a diet I HAVE to have treats at the weekend otherwise I give up completely. So don't be too hard on yourself - you're only human and you're doing great:hugs:

I'm doing slimming world, I realised actually my ticker is slightly wrong as I started 3lbs over the stone bracket and for some reason I haven't added that to my ticker... I'll change it at some point. Thank you :) It's taken me a year to lose that weight, but at least I know it's going off and staying off. I'm of the view that life is still for living and you are going to have some events that make you gain a little weight, as long as I don't let it snowball and pile the weight on again I'm happy :)

I can't decide whether to reduce my syns or not this week now to make up for yesterday, but to be honest I'm tempted to not bother and just draw a line under it and use my usual syns for the week. I know I have a wispa gold in which will be calling my name later this evening so saving them doesn't seem like a very likely option and if I try and save it for next week my husband will definitely get in there first as they're his favourites too haha

Haha got to have a little treat now and again! Got to love calzone, we had pepper rings on holiday and they were really nice!
My driving lesson went well yesterday, although he did let me drive home and I went a bit fast down a hill towards a roundabout haha think he said break about 3 times, but I was scared of pushing too hard on in! And only stalled once at the very end!

Oooo they sound nice, yeah got to have treats every now and then... I just seem to be having them every weekend haha next weekend will be worse as we have a work do on the Friday and a gig on the Saturday. Oh well, life is for living.

Whoop whoop, glad it went well :) you'll be passing your test in no time ;)

Sounds like everyone is in a good place with the WTT :) I’m probably a stone heavier then when I last tried my wedding dress on  although I’m not overweight I was pretty slim last time I tried it - so need to shift a bit of timber. Really looking forward to moving to TTC room with you all. Netty who’s also WTT is a good friend of mine - we met on here years ago and now she’s one of my bridesmaids :)

Ellie I’m a newly qualified midwife. And it’s hard work training and hard now I’ve qualified, but worth it! It definitely takes 100% staying power and now the bursary has been removed too means people are turning away from the career. Now I’m wualified academia doesn’t come into it, just al the exams/assignments that are hard. I did my access course first too. It was challenging but I never knew how far I could push myself until I really tried, and just came out with a first class degree so the hard work paid off. It truly is an amazing job - although I prefer community rather than labour ward.

Oh really? That’s lovely that you found a friend like that on here!

I let my hubby down when I did the access course as I worked little and ran us into a little debt and didn’t even pass it :( I still feel awful about it now. We’ll see if Hubby gets a promotion/raise after this course and I can do the access course again if they’ll let me.
I think I can see why you’d like that community side, I’d love to do something like a health visitor or breastfeeding consultant but would have no idea where to start.

What do you do Donna?

I’m a nursery practitioner and work with the babies normally about 8-14months, I really enjoy it, when they’re not screaming, haha

You can also do the access course online. I know a few of the girls I qualified with did it that way. And worked at the same time if it helps.
So far as I’m concerned, the birth is the smallest part of the childbearing experience, the pregnancy lasts so much longer lol. I get to support women through the worries of pregnancy and to build a decent relationship with them :)

I loved most of the midwives I dealt with, except for one :( and that was at the very end, being signed off on day 15, but my midwife swooped in and saved the day :)

Will have a look into doing it online, thank you princess x

I’ve met some miserable ones, don’t know why they even bother doing the job anymore. It’s such a special time, and can also be a shitty time and a sad time too, the last thing any woman wants is some sour faced midwife!

I originally wanted to become a bereavement midwife (if that’s what you call it) I went to bereavement day in Birmingham too (how to get photos and memories for the family) Not sure if I could do it now, I’d want to help familys through those difficult times but I’m too emotional and would cry myself all the time.

Yeh it really does take a special kind of person to do that, it’s not for me personally. Think I’d have been ok before becoming a mum, but now I’d get too upset, like you say. However it’s such an important role and one of the most satisfying, I imagine.
Sounds like you’re really into it though, don’t let the chance pass you by :)
I’ve got a training day in b’ham next month, first one since qualifying!

Wow that's amazing that you met someone and got so close from here :) also fab that you're both WTT.

I wanted to be a midwife when I was younger, doubt I could do it to be honest though.

I'm a cover supervisor in a secondary school for maths and science and I also teach some of my own maths lessons. I'm doing my degree so I can eventually become a fully qualified full time maths teacher.

My sister is a photographer and does volunteer work for remember my baby, I think what she does is amazing. She finds it really hard at times and really emotionally draining, however she sticks with it as she knows the parents really appreciate the pictures.

Hope it goes well, what’s the training for?

That is what I was thinking, especially after having Aria, I don’t know if I could do it.

I’ll definitely look into the online course.

It’s for assessing fetal growth, you know when we measure the bump etc, make sure that we are doing in line with protocol - we are pretty hot on it so I’m sure we are doing what we should.

I admire you being able to do your job....10 day olds are my limit  you must have great patience. You too Donna, my o/h did similar to you but the stress just took the enjoyment away. Having said that, he’s currently in the police recruitment process! Glutton for punishment!

It can be stressful at times, but I love my job. The school I work at is great, the kids don't all come from the best backgrounds but they are lovely. The atmosphere in my school is fantastic and my department are all brilliant too. It all makes a difference and makes the job worth the stress :) It can be very rewarding.

Ooo I hope he gets on well in the police force, again such a fab job but don't think I have it in me to do that myself.

I was in the police for 6 years before I decided on Midwifery. Midwifery is a lot more stressful on my experience - and a tonne more paperwork! :brat:

Oh god the paper work! I have enough of that as it is! Although loads of that has gone now we put all info on an app and now barely talk to the parents (well i still do cos I like to have a chat with parents) Anyway your sister is a star for doing that Donna. And I admire you for working with that age Donna, couldn’t do it myself, I struggle with the cheekiness from preschoolers (we cover in the other rooms from time to time) haha

Well my measurements were always low, then they’d measure again and it’ll be bang on, then when I was in labour I was asked if I’d had a growth scan and I asked if I was measuring big and she said yes, so can understand why you’re hot on that haha

I use to live with my aunt and she’s a police officer and the states she use to home in, I have great respect for that job too. The things we put ourselves through and the shit we have to put up with.

I love working with the older kids, yes they are a nightmare at times but they are fantastic most of the time :)
