Hello.... I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension when I was 25 and was not recommended to become pregnant due to the high risk. I found out I am pregnant last week and is already 12 weeks and 6 days. I am now 37.

I am scared as my Cardiologist said there are 3 out of 10 chances that something really bad will happen to me i.e. died. I will definitely have an early delivery and baby may be at risk if born premature.

I know from their point of view that I should give up this baby but this is not what I want. I had my scan few days ago and can see the baby was bouncing, it was amazing.

Of course I will be looked after really well by the hospital if I choose to keep the baby.

I am feeling fine and only feel bloated, dizzy, constipate, nausea and tired. I believe these are normal symptoms in pregnancy?

I am uncertain when I will become ill and what will happen then? Has anyone has the same condition and successfully deliver the baby?

Didn't want to read and run. I'm afraid I have no experience with this problem. My mil was advised not t continue her pregnancy after she lost a kidney during first child birth and her remaining kidney was very poor and they advised her risks of death. She continued till 40 weeks and I am now married to her son (that baby) and she has just turned 73 fit well and even had a mastectomy recently. Xx

Hi congrats on your pregnancy but also sorry it's not all happy news. I have high blood pressure but had a perfect pregnancy untill giving birth but that was unrelated. 6 days after birth both my lungs flash filled with fluid in the middle of the night and I was rushed into hospital. This condition was one of the reasons they thought was the cause. They managed to drain the fluid and I was fine a short while after. Spent a week on the cardiology ward having lots of tests but was very well looked after. I've since been told it was where I had to much fluid in my legs where they was so swollen it traveled to my lungs and had I not woken up I would of drowned in my sleep. But the good news is the doc said it's safe to have another baby I just have to keep an eye in any swelling. Get second and third opinions hun and good luck :) xxx

Thank you ladies for support and sharing your stories.

I have seen my midwife today and she had a patient like me who had the baby delivered at week 34. Both baby and the mum need special care after but they went home healthy. Hearing that make me feel it is possible!!!

Hope everything will turn out ok for me

Hi ladies, just an update of my situation.

I am now 30 weeks pregnant and everything is going well. I am being looked after by specialists in Sheffield and have visited hospital every 4 weeks since December taking various tests and medications. My condition is under control and doctors are happy with progress. I will be delivering my baby by c section between 34-36 weeks.

I feel ok myself, no breathing problem and physically fit for everyday life. The only problem is my stomach pain, I suffer from constant stomach pain which is quite annoying but my obstetrician said its normal during pregnancy. Although I am taking tablets for it, it doesn't really help. I am trying to eat small meal each time as eating normal meal making my stomach hurt.

At this last trimester, I am craving for desserts and chocolates

So pleased to hear this. Miracles do happen and the health system has an incredible up todate technology and workers. It's reassuring to know your being well consulted and monitored. Lots of babies are born early and even tiny ones from as early as 24 weeks and they get stronger each day. Best of luck and looking out for your labour thread x

No experiance with your condition but my good freind is 40 now and carried and gave birth to 4 children with an undiagnosed hole in the heart, well I say hole , badically she only had three chambers, the 4th just was so big a hole it was gone!! She had a stroke, open heart surgery/breaking of all her ribs etc to get in, and three mths later she was pregnant and went on to have her 5 th baby just over a yr later at 39!!

Let the pros keep a close eye on you, but enjoy your pregnancy, I look forward to your journey x
