Prolapse after first baby.

I've noticed the past few weeks things haven't felt right down there so I had a look this morning and I'm sure I have a prolapse. I'm feeling really upset over it, I do pelvic floor exercise pretty much every day and I'm only 24. It's been 10 weeks since my LO was born and I haven't managed to have sex with OH yet either. My LO was 8 pounds and 15 ounces but it wasn't a hard labour so I think I've been really unlucky. I just want to cry, I know my mum had a prolapse and a hysterectomy at 40, and I know it doesn't necessarily mean that but that's all I can think about. Should I go see a GP?
 
I have no advice other than to say if you're worried I'd definitely mention it to the GP if only to put your mind at rest.
 
Definitely make an app to see your GP, either way, to make sure you know what has or hasn't happened and what treatment there is. NO experience im afraid, didn't want to read and run =) x
 
I had a prolapse after my second child. So hadn't cervix was at the entrance to my vagina sometimes! I am a Physio so like you I had been doing my pelvic floor exercises. Just wanted to give you a positive story. That was 11 years ago. I lost weight (4 stone!) did loads of pelvic floor and horse riding and I completely reversed the prolapse on my own. So much so that when I went for a smear test a couple of years later she said she would never have known I'd had a prolapse.
I don't know how you do your pelvic floor exercises but I found mine could only be really effective when lying down to start with. This is because in the lying position your muscles don't have to work against gravity. Do them lying down until they feel stronger contractions and then progress to sitting and finally to standing. I would recommend you see a women's health specialist Physio if you don't know exactly how to exercise the pelvic floor but in general you should be doing a mixture of long holds(10 seconds) medium holds (2 seconds) and fast twitch where you do 10 as quickly as possible. Remember, the pelvic floor is like a sling and stretches from front all the way to round your anus. So each contraction start by squeezing the rear passage then thinking about lifting up from here all the way to the front. I used to teach the feeling as if someone was pulling your tampon out and you were trying to hold on to it!
Just wanted to end in the really positive but. After an 11 year break I had baby no 3 4 months ago, had no pelvic floor probs during pregnancy and my easiest delivery of the 3 and remarkably no sign of the prolapse returning. So you can sort this out, it will take time and effort but it can be done xx

Lotty, that makes me feel better. I'll definitely carry on with the pelvic floor exercises and I'm trying to lose some weight, although that is hard atm! Thanks :) xxx
