Hi everyone,

I'm not pregnant yet but we are going to start trying in April/May time.

The reason we aren't trying just yet is because we have a cruise booked in July/August and we can't travel past 24 weeks. So we've chosen April at the earliest (March would take us to 23 weeks on our last week, which seems a bit risky if the baby is measuring big and they put me ahead a week or two) so 19 weeks seems a lot safer.

However I was wondering if anyone else had been on a cruise while pregnant, if you were showing did you have to provide evidence of how far along you were, was that a letter from a midwife or taking your pregnancy notes?

Did you find cruising comfortable while pregnant too?

I know chances are we won't catch on the first month of trying, but we don't want to be unprepared for if we do.

a friend of mine was on a cruise at 16 weeks pregnant and she had no problems. Enjoy your last child free holiday lol!

are you definitely not allowed to cruise past 24weeks? I thought they didn't like flying due to the pressure and the risk of blood clots?

I'm sure my ohs cousin went on a cruise at 30 weeks as it was the only way she could get abroad

Thankyou for the responses.

Maybe it's down to the different cruise lines but in Thompsons terns and conditions it states 24 weeks, I thought it seemed really early to be honest but I suppose it's in case anything happens and your stuck at sea? Or maybe it's something they don't really check and it's in the terms and conditions for insurance reasons...

Can't wait for the cruise but also really want to get started on trying haha. I know it might take a while to fall pregnant so these next couple of months feel almost wasted, hopefully they'll fly by though

I'm supposed to be in NYC end of Jan, and the Caribbean in Feb lol. Cancelled it when we found out about the baby. Norwegian don't allow women past 24 weeks under any circumstances incase of premature labour at sea.. I'd have been 21 weeks by the time I came home from New York. For me this pregnancy has been so rough with bleeding and sickness that I'm glad I cancelled.

You never know how your pregnancy will go, with blood pressure and bleeding. Would you be comfortable flying away from our doctors/midwives if you'd had problems weeks before. I also would not have been allowed on the catamaran excursions etc being pregnant so you'd have to look into that. We're just re booking when the baby is old enough

If it were me I'd wait until you got back if you really want to go.

Hope that's helpful.

Thankyou,
We're going on a baltic cruise so it's mainly cities and we're not planning on too many excursions anyway as we're happy mooching about the towns and cities we'll be going to. There's no flying involved as we set off from here, although yes I do understand the fact that we're in the middle of nowhere at certain points.

It's definitely something to think about, although I don't know if I want to put my life on hold while TTC either. We could start trying after we get back and not book anything else and then take years to conceive. :/

There's loads to consider isn't there...

Thankyou for your response and congratulations on your pregnancy
