Pregnancy symptoms on pill

Hello, I'm currently taking birth control but I had spotting for a week before my period was due and on the day it was due (usually like clockwork due to the pill) there was nothing. I am now 3 days past when I should have gotten it and still nothing. I have also been very tired and had a bit of nausea and sensitivity to smells. I took a test on Friday (dollar store cheapie) and it was negative but I'm wondering if I should take another better one before I start a new pack of pills just to make sure.

Has anyone found themselves pregnant while on the pill and had similar symptoms and spotting?

I have 2 children currently and am breastfeeding my 18 m old as well. I was not planning on a third but would certainly welcome it
