pregnancy supplements - touch of paranoia!

hi guys, i was taking the asda pregnancy/conception multivitamin thru my last unsuccessful pregnancy and decided regardless i would carry on taking it as it was overal better - selenium etc good for overies bla bla..

however,

i have a serious issue with them at the moment. i went to get a new packet yesterday and they didnt have any with omega 3 (dha,epa in it). i have literally been reading up on supplements bad for pregnancy and realised that Vitamin E is actually potentially dangerous? now asdas have 100% vitamin e and thats without the omega 3 part.. basically, can anyone suggest any pregnancy multivitamins that got them thru the pregnancy safely? i would like to take omega 3 but i dont want to over do it? are there any that dont contain vitamin e or is this never going to happen?

regardless of what happens with this one i intend to keep up a generalised pregnancy multivitamin thru conception as well.

any advice on a supplement and/or omega 3 issue would be great! ideally the supplement will have calcium. i have seen a boots one that doesnt contain any vitamin e but does contain ginger root, which makes me uncomfy.

too add i keep seeing omega 3 with tocopherols. are these in essence vit e & unsafe?

I take pregnacare plus which comes with a separate omega3 in the box. Not the cheapest but I like it x
 
Also has dha/epa in the omega 3 and only 4mcg of vitamin E, I believe the issue comes in with high doses x
 
It’s vitamin A that’s potentially dangerous in pregnancy, no pregnancy vitamin has it in, if a product is being sold as a pregnancy vitamin then you can be assured it’s safe, especially in the UK, a retailer like Asda wouldn’t be adding something into pregnancy vitamins which shouldn’t be there, I took them all through my pregnancy x
 
Surely they wouldn’t put something into a pregnancy supplement if it is dangerous?
How about looking into the seven sea pregnancy one? That’s what I take, the conception one along with a separate omega 3 x

i can guess then as long as its not a very high dose it is ok?
 
Hi got one last Question. i am considering the pregnacare max and i noticed it has Inositol in it? is this the same as myo inositol?
 
@Rainbow1234 hi i was going to do pregnacare max then noticed some very very high doses of b1 and b6 455% rda and 700%! isnt this extreme? why does it need to be so high? my other one i was taking has barely 100%.?

No brand is going to make a pregnancy supplement that is going to cause danger to your unborn child. x

dont suppose you know much about the whole very high b1, b6 doses that are in pregnacare max and why they would be so high? 455, 700% rda. asda one only 100%. i am keen to drop vitamin e but i am worried about the extreme'ness on these numbers.?
 
Congratulations on your bfp. Vitamin e is okay recommended is between 10-15mg and asdas has 12 I think? I was on that the first pregnancy and midwife said they were fine to me. Hope a happy and healthy 9 months for you xx

I don’t know, I wouldn’t read into it too much. I agree with Charlotte, they’ve done research to find the optimum amount of each supplement for pregnant women. They wouldn’t put it in if it was harmful x
 
Most vitamins are water soluble so if you have too much you just pee it out. I don't know for those vitamins specifically but that would be my guess.

Your very right :) i spoke 2 babymed & they said B vitamins in excess get wee'd out its vitamin e that wont be as its fat soluable.
