Hi All,

I know this sounds like a really gross and odd question, but do all women get the 'runs' before heading into labour? Surely if you are regular, you'd 'clear out' without getting them.

Also, how long before labour starts would you generally get the runs? Are we talking hours or days?

I keep thinking that I REALLY need to go, but when I get to the loo, the feeling is gone!!!

Thanks, I know it seems random, I'm just getting a little nervous now!!

Liz

i didnt poo b4 labour but i did poo during labour haha thank goodness it wasnt the runs tho and it wasnt stinky!

:rotfl: i've heard the MV cleans it up so quick its not too embarrassing?!

Just as my contractions started to get painful I had a "clear out", about 3 poos in 20 mins. Noy runny or anyhting, just poos!

In my second labour although I dont remember my husband says I did a tiny poo when I pushed   but the MW dealt with it and he didn't see it and she never mentioned it, so I didn't find out until well aftre the event!

I couldnt go to the toilet when I was in labour as it was agony to sit down. I did however poo while I was pushing. It was the last thing on my mind- the mw was sitting there with my fanny in her face so I didnt bother saying 'ohh Im pooing' I think she knew :rotfl: :rotfl:

 thanks guys!!

i figure with the loss of dignity with my koochi on display, pooing will be the last thing on my mind!!

a "clean out" (shall we put it) can happen before labour
dont think theres a time frame but some ladies do have
that before the onset of other symptoms, like backache,
start of contractions! could be a good sign :cheer:

My bowels were normal before and during labour, but the post-labour poo was another event entirely  After the birth of our next baby I'm starting on laxatives asap :D

Don't be too nervous, its yours and your LO's special day

I was constipated during labour (though didn't know it!) and it was slowing down the labour so I was given some pesseries to sort it out.
Once I'd been everything speeded up dramatically! Has to be a good thing to go poo before hand :D
