Hello Ladies,

I know I am a bit late in posting about this. But.. what prams have you all got/ getting? And how long roughly, did they take to order / deliver?

I was thinking about the Silver Cross 3 or 4 D thing, but found it very low.. as my other half is over 6 ft.
I want one that faces me when baby is small... and is lying flat.
Also.. for the car seat.. do they always come with the Travel System that I am planning to get?? I remember something about needing a car seat, that allows the LO to travel flat when new born (but it wouldn't be in a car for longer that 15 mins when little anyway). Is this still important?

Bit confused :-)

Cheers

Yey prams, I am now officially a pram bore!! We ordered ours last week, we are getting a Mamas and Papas Skate. http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/skate/
We could choose when we wanted to collect it from the store, so we are picking ours up about two weeks before the due date. We can arrange to get it earlier if we need.

we choose the Skate because the whole thing can be lowered or made higher to suit the height of whoever is pushing. Also, the carrycot turns into the pushchair, so we don't have to store a carrycot when they outgrow it. (We have a little house, this is good for us)

The Skate comes with attachments for a car seat, but it isn't a reclining one. This is a problem for us as my relatives are about a 5 hour drive away, so we need a recliner really. We are going to buy one seperately. If your baby is not going to be in the car seat for more than about an hour then a regular car seat would be fine.

We are getting the mamas and papas ultima, im not keen on travel systems. Hubby takes car to work so i usually walk everywhere so the baby wont be using the carseat much, just short journeys.

Im just waiting for it to be delivered this week :cheer:

We've ordered the new Maxi-Cosi Mura

Not got it as a travel system, although it is compatible with the maxi cosi car seats.
It faces both ways and is suitable from birth - we have a sling for the early days so it will only be used when bubs is a couple of months old.
Only problem is that they only have 3 colours on the UK market, blue pink or black and as we are team Green we had to order black. We're going to get a blue or pink foot muff for it when bubs is born to liven it up a bit :)

Oh - it's not in stock yet from the place we ordered it from as it's new to the market so I should get it mid Feb at the latest.

I had an awful time trying to find the right pushchair - I may have been stroppy with some shop assisstants who couldn't provide a sensible pushchair

I wanted one that was light, that you could fold with one hand, that was easy to steer, that had a decent handle height (OH is 6'3" and I'm 5'8" with a long stride), that the seat could be facing towards me or away from me and that I could see in the shop to play with first. It doesn't sound unreasonable but apparently this was not a list that could be fulfilled.

I bought the Maclaren xlr which I love. It fulfills everything except the seat being able to face towards me. I bought the car seat to make it into a travel system so that if we're just going out for short walks baby can go in that and face us. It's not ideal in that respect but it is better than everything else I could find (for me, you will obviously have different priorities). I know it will be perfect once baby is 6 months or so and wants to be facing outwards. I have never had a baby so I don't know how much I will want to use the pushchair when baby is little - I've bought slings to use mostly plus there's the car seat to make it a travel system. Once baby is born, if what we have is not enough I will buy a seperate pram to use to begin with.

I ordered the xlr from Mothercare website (I had a code to get it reduced and I liked the idea that if there was a problem I could go to the shop) and it arrived within a week. The email said it would arrive within 11 days so you might like to allow for that, I may just have been very lucky.

Good luck!

Thanks Ladies, will have a lookie at them now.

In other words I think I have a pram obsession, the house is full of them :D

Does not amuse my hubby, have t keep one in the car all the time cos there isnt enough room in the hall anyore! :)

We've got the Jane Slalom with the Matrix carseat. I ordered it from an ebay shop when I was 18 weeks pregnant. It arrived the very next day!
Very pleased with it cos it was £300 cheaper than mothercare, couldn't have afforded to pay mothercares price of £600
