Potty training

when did you start your baby on the potty, or when are you planning to start your baby on the potty?

I started when my daughter had just turned 2. 2 main reasons for this.

1) she used to hide when doing a poo so I knew she knew that.
2) It was the summer so thought it would be the best time.

I know people who have started earlier (18 months) but it took them longer to train their children than those who started later (2 1/2). I also have friends who started at 24 months decided it was too soon so stopped and tried again later when they felt the child was more ready.

yeah, i was asking coz back home people start as early as 12 months (this was the case for my little sister - and it my mum 3 weeks to potty train her!!!) so i was just wondering what everyone else did!
