hello all :D my almost 3 year old is due to start nursery september 8 th but has to be out of nappies ! well I have tryed many times no luck :( today and yesterday shes not had a nappy on and potty is next to her and me asking if she needs a wee etc ! she just weeing all over the place ever where but the potty :wall2::wall2::wall2:

Why do these nurseries insist on them being potty trained? They all develop at different rates and 3 is still so young!

I agree with you !!! its very hard to work to a dead line on this

It just seems like so much pressure for the little ones :-(

it is :( if shes not ready shes not ready and will just have to miss nursery this year

Are there no nurseries near you that would take her still in nappies? Most where I live take them and assist potty training when they are ready x

Nursery is what had prompted me to get Cam potty trained.

Thankfully he seems to be taking to it well and we are on our fourth day accident free now.

Hopefully your little one will pick it up soon enough.

she used to go to a private nursery and that was fine but this is in a primary school and all children need to be out of nappies

Thanks any tips :p

If you look on carnat' s potty training thread, I wrote down in there how I've tried to do it.

You could try the toilet and miss out the potty? I bribed both of mine! DD got malteasers, DS got jelly babies! Every wee they got a couple for the first couple of days, then it was just every poo. I might need to go back to it cos I cannot get him to stand up and wee!

I did the toilet but she just wants to flush the loo and not sit on it:shock::shock:

I went cold turkey when I decided to start potty training and by day 3 we had no "oopsies". Just put on pants and that was that. Pull ups for naps and bed time.
Day 1 and 2 I was cleaning wee up all the time but eventually we she got there and went from strength to strength.
I let her choose a potty and big girl pants to get her interested and made a sticker reward chart as nursery had done the same.
Poos took a longer time to come and only just recently had she stopped doing it in her pants and has started to tell me she needs a poo (we started potty training in April time).
It's hard when there is a time scale put on you but it will just click, some children take longer than others. Nursery said they would prefer her potty trained by time she moves up to pre school group as there are more children in there etc

Good luck x

Absolutely nothing is working for my son. He knows when he wants to wee as that is when he'll get very upset asking for his nappy.. And he'll ruddy well hold it in until nappy is on. This is not fun at all!

I've done everything. Took him shopping to buy pants, bribery, positive reinforcement, reward charts, the works. Nothing works with my child!

Oh dear :-(

Does he only wear a nappy at bedtime or are you doing periods of nappy free time during the day?

Maybe try going cold turkey and just pants in the day?

Or maybe he's just not quite ready yet?

Hugs hun. Potty training is rubbish!

Yeah I don't think he's ready. It's really bringing out the worst in the both of us this potty training lark. He is just being VILE! And i'm getting so cross with him that i've just had to send him to his room so we can both calm down (plus I had my baby girl who was refusing to nap).

I wanted him to only wear pants/nappy off today but he's back in a nappy in his room now. His temper and behaviour gets so horrendous that we usually end up giving in.

I might have to leave it for another couple of weeks. Nothing is working. He wet his pants and didn't care. Happy enough walking around in wet pants.

Yeah, maybe leave it for a bit longer and then try again.

No point in falling out over it.

I'm hating potty training and think I've had it pretty easy!

Drives me bananas!! There are tons of 3 year olds in nappies!!

My 4 year old has autism and is still very firmly in nappies. He will probably be in them for years. I purposely avoided a school nursery because of their potty training thing!

Luckily he's going to a special school in September where over half the school is still in nappies.

I hope your LO turns a corner and takes to it soon xx
