ok i have to ask are any of you lovely ladies worried about pooing when you give birth???

i will be mortified if i do, and i will be worring about it before hand!!

I keep thinking about that too. This is my first and the idea of pooing in front of everyone is scary. But I'm sure midwives are used to it and it'll all be forgotten about once little one has arrived.xx

i think it worries me as my ex brother in law told people his wife did when she had their baby, WTF !! sure if he shit himself he wouldnt of liked it if she told everyone.

tbh I think a lot of women do - with all that pushing down there I can't imagine being about to push out of your vagina without pushing something out of your bum too! Especially if it goes on for hours, I generally need to have a bowel movement 2-3 times a day so with a longer labour I know i'm going to need to go during that time. hopefully will be able to tell the difference and get myself to the loo but if not - then oh well :P

Your body will naturally try to clear your bowels before you go into labour BUT if you do poo, the mw's are very discrete about it and just quickly cover it and take it away, LOADS of women do it and they are used to seeing it everyday and you may not even know you've done it youself. Honestly when you are in the full throws of labour you probably wont give a toss!!

I agree with DW, you wont even know unless your OH mentions it and your bowels are pretty clear by the time you push as you are always going to the loo thinking you might poo long before you need to push. I want a water birth but a bit worried about my hubby standing there with a fishing net lol! Me and my friends just make jokes about it, to be honest you really wont care at that point, all you dignity has long gone! Have a word with you OH about how embarrassing you would find it so he is also aware it happens to most women and cant be helped and you would rather it never be mentioned if he notices!

many women do poo during labour its quite normal you could have an enema i suppose? but i guess you would have to do it just as early contractions adn not sure if you are allowed to then? otherwise go for a poo when you first feel contractions and again if you can before you go to hospital hopefully that way most will be pushed out???

yep girlies im almost sure i did on all 6 of mine lol
they are used to it in the labour ward and just change the pad underneath you very discreetly you dont even really know you have done it to be honest. xxxx

This is the one thing that bothers me about going into labour! I'm really hoping that as i have a rubbish digestive system and only have to go once every 3 days or so, that i won't. The pooing and poo strainer is one of the things putting me off a water birth

when i went into labour i had about 6 toilet trips before my first contraction that certainly cleared me out but i was so worried i asked my mum after lol as i gave birth on all fours lol that would have been gross im sure :(
my midwife said a very high percentage do poo during child birth god my face would go beaming RED!!!!

omg..... this also terrifies me!! my OH just tells me not to think about it but its hard I cant imagine my big old bum on show doing that!!!!

i didnt poo with my first baby. with my 2nd i was trying to poo when my waters broke on the toilet at home, i had a very quick labour i was in the bath at the hospital trying to ease the pain when i pushed, i was convinced i was pushing the baby out but i pooed in the bath, my oh had to scoop it up with a jug and flush it down the loo. there was only him in the room thank god :) i instantly felt better and my baby followed. he thinks its funny to tell friends this, but he acts worse when hes drunk x

I pood it was my worst fear and i worried about it for months i said it would be the worst thing that could happen to me and lo and behold i poo'd standing up with no knickers and a jumper on , onto a pad on the floor it was a diahrroeah and the nurses kept wiping my bum , but did i care? No lol my OH at the time said ' ha ha are you bothered now' and i creid out 'no' and it really was no big deal i laugh about it now , so dont worry at all its fine even if the worst happens x x x

pooing is the least of my worries to be honest.....a friend of mine who is a midwife said 'everyone does' and they just get rid and dont make a fuss....its only natural, you are using the same muscles..

as long as it doesnt fly across the room into someones face...now that would worry me...ha ha...xx

Seriously don't worry about it ladies! I've been with my siser through all her labours (4 in total) and she pooped with 3 of those! but like others have said-they just put a pad over it and carry on! they clean you up and everything! its not like a proper poo. its only small amounts-really nothing to worry about!

This is my worry as well! A friend said at the weekend that she didn't even know she had done a poo as she was just concentraing on getting the baby out. I keep saying to my mum I still have my pride and she said haha, not for long, once you're in labour it goes out the window.

When I was in labour with DD that was my biggest fear. And when I was pushing I was convinced I had pooed and kept shouting that I had and the midwife said I had and I was shouting 'Why are yous all fucking lying to me!' to which she grabbed my hand and put it down at my bum and it turned out it was just a pad I felt. Although no doubt this time I will poo, karma paying me back for cursing at the MW haha xxx

If you are on your due date or very close to it, having a a spicy dish such curry or chilli, stimulates your bowel and clears your systems, this then can bring on your labour and the chance of pooing is reduced.

99% of women do poo during labour and because it isnt realy spoken about or mentioned in books and magazines, women feel embarrassed but dont it is all part of the process

i think i only did what you would call skids lol i know the mw changed my pad a few times but tbh i didnt give a shit pardon the pun lol i just wanted him out lol xxx
