my grandmas dog has colitis (SP?) and whenever she goes for a number 2 (sorry tmi) she bleeds a lot. now shes worse than ever and shes not eating or drinking. shes at the vets today to discuss the kindest option. we all know what this means but its just heartbreaking. anyone had a similar problem? if so, what was the outcome? thanks

UPDATE 8/11/07

Well im afraid it wasn't good news, after 2 more trips to the vets, they decided to operate on the 'growth'. After opening her up they discovered cancer of the liver which was unoperable  they put her to sleep while she was under aneasthetic  RIP Abbie xxx

I've got a similar thing going on with my cat and she's on a special diet now

Has the vet discussed a different diet? Colitis can be managed.
Do they think that there is anything else going on internally?

Have they offered xrays, endoscopy a referal?

Seems very extreme to be thinking the worst like that fr colitis.

(sorry veterinary nurse here!)

shes been on a differetn diet for a while but now shes stopped eating, shes been on some tablets but they're making her sick. vet now talking about some growths in her bowels?

Awww, I hope they can do something for her :(
