Poo and wee

Theo is 6 days old today and only last night did he have his first yellowy coloured poo. Even then he only does it once maybe twice in 24 hours and there are still urates in his wee. I am so worried he is dehydrated an I am not feeding him enough but my midwife says I'm feeding him really well and I don't have sore nipples or anything. I don't know what to do I am so worried he's not getting enough

if your worried you can give him cooled boiled water but if hes feeding well and his fontanelle isnt sunken then maybe its just taking him a while to work thru his system, especially if he only did his first yellow poo yesterday. drink more water yourself too maybe?
if your worried ring the mw or hv and ask, its what they are there for

I drink so much water - I always have a bottle next to me when I am feeding. Yeah he only did his first yellow poo last night. his fonts belle is fine and he's pink and his mouth isn't dry, mw saw him yesterday and said he was fine, I'm just worried. He hasn't wee'd today yet either

if he hasn't wee'd...does sound like he may be a tad dehydrated. but i am no way an expert on these things. i would maybe ring your midwife just to be sure hon......xx

dont feel rubbish hon....you are doing an amazing job but these little babies are sent to try us at times would be so much easier if they came with a manual!!!

Are you sure he hasn't weed?
Nappies are very absorbent! If he has crystals in his nappy that'll mean he's dehydrated and you'd need to get him seen to.

I was gonna say that about the nappies too - sometimes it can be hard to tell - i found that really tricky at the beginnining

We had our newborn baby Photoshoot today and he was naked from 11am-3:30pm and he just did 2 wee's now but nothing apart from that all day. Hasn't done a poo since about 2am this morning either!? Xx

If your not sure about him weeing add a piece of cotton wool to the inside of the nappy. You should be able to tell from that x
