I'm starting to feel really lonely....

My oh works all week and doesn't come until 6-7pm, by that time im shattered (ive not been well) so Im sometimes in bed by 8pm.

All my friends work in the week so I can't see them very often, it's a hard one because the only time we have family time is on a weekend but that's also the only time we can see our friends.

I don't really like the baby groups round here, isaac Hates baby massage apart from at night time after his bath.

Sometimes I sot in the house with him all day, maybe go for a walk if weather permits and we just play all day when he's not napping.

I love doing this and I love spending time with him but I get so bored, I actually look forward to going back to work (luckily I love my job) but I also dread leaving my LO.

I just feel abit fed up today... Oh is at work, I was supposed to be going to see a friend but she has cancelled as she's not well and doesn't wana pass anything on to isaac so now I'm sat here whilst he's napping doing the same as everyday, tidying up and watching day time television!

Am I being selfish for feeling like I want to be at work??
I love isaac more than anything but talking baby alllllll day everyday gets boring, maybe its just because he's at that age where they don't do much and they get bored easily?? I'm a first timer so I don't know!

No it can be very boring lol. I went shopping ..... a lot! When my lo was timy he loved sainsburys for some reason but hated clothes shopping typical boy! I did find a few groups that my son liked but I hated going as I didn't like the other parents lol. But I went coz he liked it.

Lol, I just can't wait til he can do a bit more, so I can take him out to the park and he will actually enjoy it! he likes being out in the pram and looking around but when your on your own it can be boring! I sit there all day waiting for my oh to get home so I can have some adult convo lol! Ive been out to another friends today so that killed some time! I know it's not like this forever, it's worse now because it's winter and keeps raining so I can't even get out and do much! I don't have any family around here either! I just can't wait to go to work, but then when the time comes I won't want to leave my LO lol, can't win xxx

Little ones, as much as we love them, are extremely boring! I feel like all I do is run around after the two of them, wash dirty clothes and feed them! They get more fun as the grow up and the boredom does ease a little but there's absolutely nothing wrong with looking forward to going back to work!

Leanne I feel so awful calling him boring lol but like you say all we do is run around after them and it's the same Thing every day! I don't for one minute blame isaac or wish he wasn't here I just wish I had more people around me to go and see or if he was older we could do more together! some days he just cries all day and I'm sure he hates me lol, I always say you will love me when your older and im spoiling you haha, like he understands ;) xxx

I do too, it's mind numbing at times :( doesn't mean we don't love them or look after them to the best of our abilities though and that's all that matters.
I'm dreading the juggling the work/10 month old baby lifestyle but i am looking forward to going back to work too for some adult conversation and just more for my mind to do!

This might sound a bit crap (sorry) but isn't there anything you enjoy doing that you could do at home? Reading? Knitting? Something crafty? I love socialising but I need my quiet interests too, so I know I'll have plenty of options when I'm stuck at home all winter with a newborn! You could look into free online courses or something?? xx

You are not alone in your feelings!

I am very fortunate as we have our own business so my husband comes home around 3/4 to finish off some work at home and keep me.company. I fond my lo so much easier when we're out and about. We go to soft play centres 2/3 times a week atm and he loves it. We have one that's really.good near our business and a butterfly.house and farm park where we have an annual pass, which are both near our business so I drop in on my husband sometimes and kill some hours at these places. There's often another lonely mum with a baby or toddler too who will be happy to chat.

We sometimes go to the free baby rhythm and rhyme time at our local library too which my lo loves then we pop to the bakers and I treat myself to something fattening lol.

We also have swimming lessons once a week and my husband takes him while.i watch/swim. It gives me a nice break and time for my husband to do something fun with lo.

I still find it tough though and lonely at times.

Once he's older it will be so much easier, he just gets bored easily and frustrated easily at the moment because he wants to do things but can't... He's just learning to grab things at the moment but hasn't quite got the coordination so he gets agitated so we move onto something else and it's like this alllll day! When he naps I get all the house work done, I do sometimes read and things, it's all just very clockwork at the moment and it sometimes feels like it's never going to end even though I know it will. Our days will go so much faster once he's able to do more as we can get out and about but he's so young right now that there's not much we can actually do xxx

I don't find my LO boring. But saying that, I have found some nice groups to go to. Plus having a routine can help fill the time. Every week on different days we go food shopping, singing group, go for a walk around shops, and another baby activity every week like swimming, a play group, the park, the zoo etc. and a day at home.

Even if my OH isn't around, I'll meet friends for a casual early evening meal somewhere with baby in tow - they meet me straight after work somewhere that suits them. Or go for a cuppa and catch up at their house for a change of scenery.

I actually found it easier when he was a bit younger and couldn't do much except sleep in his pram or in my sling while I just got on with whatever i wanted to do. Now I need to take toys, teethers and things when we go out.

When I said he was boring I didn't mean that in a horrible way towards him, he's my son and he's amazing!!! I just meant that he's 12 week old and doesn't do much at the moment because he doesn't know how! if I took him to the zoo he would just fall asleep lol! I know that when he's older it will be easier to keep him occupied as he will be able to play with toys at play groups, play on a park, look at animals in a zoo! I take him swimming a lot but he gets bored after about 20 mins, he gets bored of everything after about 20 mins lol. He just loves food, naps and cuddles at the moment! I think it just obviously takes a bit of time to get used to being a mummy :)

One thing we did with our lg at 12 weeks was took her to the sealife centre, she loved watching the fish swim around. We also started going to our local pool toddler sessions, sometimes ill just browse the shops, the other day I walked half an hour to a local starbucks. Recently finished a baby massage course, had a baby date with some mummies from my work and got another today at soft play even though my girly a bit small I might let her have a go. It is hard in the start but sometimes you have to push yourself to do things x

I knew what you meant :)

It sounds selfish, but when they're young just do the activities you want to do and take them with you. Go for lunch with a friend, go shopping, go to local free events etc.

Like lucyboo says, sometimes you have to make yourself do something because staying in with baby is easier, but as you're finding out its lonelier.

I took my little one swimming this morning - he's just under 6 months. Yes it's getting him used to the swimming pool experience, but at this stage it's more for me to have gone out and done something with my day.
