Have they done an ultrasound of his kidneys/urinary tract by any chance? I just say that because Grace was diagnosed with a dilated renal pelvis by antenatal scan when I was 5 days overdue and it hadn't been picked up on any of my routine scans. She had to have a preventative antibiotic from birth just once a day until she was around 2 years old to prevent urinary/kidney infections - apparently this is really common. Just thought I'd mention it as it can get missed, luckily she has never had one bout of UTI's or anything like that. She is soon to be discharged and has been off the meds for a year and she is still ok. Glad to hear he seems to be on the mend hunni xxxx

no i haven't heard any of this before. maybe when his bloods come back they would come up with something? think it's worth mentioning to the doctors? hmmm! xxxxxxxx

It just made me think when you said it looks like a UTI, can't do any harm to check I suppose - Grace had her first US at about 2 weeks old and it did show she still had some swelling so they kept her up with the antibiotic. If they don't do a scan, if he seems to be getting persistent infections I would definately push for it. Its nothing to worry about hun, sorry dont wanna scare ya - Grace has never been poorly at all with it but I think that becuase they noticed it before she was born and had this small dose of antibiotic. She was on Trimethoprim xx

Oh meant to add, nothing would generally show up with the bloods etc unless infection is already present - this dilation of the renal pelvis can cause infection or urinary reflux so would only really be diagnosed with an US. Like I say, she has never been poorly as I result, but they like to take precautions when they are so little becuase lots of urinary/kidney infections can cause damage to the kidneys over a period of time so its just preventative really x

aw no it didn't scare me, it was very helpful information! i was gonna ask docs about it but they brought it up :) i think the is gonna be done tomorrow. grave looks very healthy in your avatar anyway hun, she's gorgeous!!

UPDATE EVERYONE..

Riley's like feeling soooo much better. off the drip now, and should be on oral antibiotics woo! if he needs them that is, as that was meant to be his last dose. time all mixes together in this place so i end up saying something happend today, when indeed it happend yesterday! lol.

if all is good we should be home tomorrow evening! like i said above i thinke they should be doing an ultrasound on his kidneys. still waiting for bloods to come back but they should be fine i reckon.

about to give him a bath and a nice new sleepsuit to put on now he's off his drip, i can finally clean him and stuff properly! thanks again everyone for your wel wishes xxxxxxx
