Hey ladies

Just wondering how long your little ones will play by themselves before they get fed up and want to be entertained?

Ella will only last 5-10 minutes on her own before she starts moaning, she's then only happy if i'm holding her or playing with her which is a little difficult when you want to get things done!

Is this normal at this age (almost 4 months) or should she be happy playing on her own for longer than this? Don't want her to grow up a needy baby!

Ta

Charley's nearly 7 months and still only plays by himself for 5-10mins before he starts wingeing. I try to change what he plays with every 5mins so he stays stimulated for longer x.

Does that work with Charley? I do try with Ella but she just throws them to the side like she's saying 'I aint stupid, you know what I want!!'

Isla lasts up tp 15 mins without me. She used to need constant stimulation but is better now. I get longer if I put her in the walker or jumperoo as she prefers to stand.

Emma x

Ezzie will play in her activity centre for upto 30 mins sometimes but she prefers playing with me. x

Sounds like it's about normal then! Ella's happier standing up too, we've got a door bouncer but think it might be worth investing in a jumperoo or something like that so there's a bit more to occupy her while she's standing.

Thanks Ladies :)

Def recommend a jumperoo!! Charley will stay in that for half hour until he gets tired x.

Lucy is also the same. she will happily play on her own for maximum of 10 minutes and then she wants mummy!!. i quite often put her in her swing chair and just carry the swing into whatever room im in if i need to do chores etc. but to be honest i just wait until she is asleep now or when daddy is home as sometimes its impossible!!. im glad you posted this, sounds normal to me now! xx

Maisie will speand 30 mins in her door bouncer :) When i went to baby sensory they said if you give your babies a little bit of eye contact every now and then it will allow them to think you aare playing with them so they will play longer xx

Ella used to be a right pickle but now she'll play for ages if she isn't tired or hungry and knows where she is. If I'm out the room I pop back every so often and wave at her, she usually smiles and carries on playing and has started trying to wave back! It helps that she moves around and as of yesterday can sit herself up! If she's tired or hungry though she only wants me!

Thanks Ladies :)
I will try the eye contact thing Monkei... and agree with rainbow dancer, wait until daddy gets back and run round like a mad loony!!

Noa is happy on his own if he can see me n if he's nnot tired.

my littleman is the same, 10mins is the max. all though my daughter has recruited herself as chief entertainer lol

lol my child sits on her own for an hour! shes very indepandant! she hates sitting on my lap for too long, its wierd! shes like me though, i would rather go and do my own thing. she goes in her bouncer for around 45 mins in the morning, has her morning feed then sits under her play gym for another 45 mins as she rolls over quite a bit, nap, lunch then an hour in her bouncer! its hillarious! plus makes life easier so i can do house work! not that im in the house very often for a whole day but if i am then i can just leave her to it!

sounds like you have a dream baby there lexi, enjoy it lol. I'm the same as the others... Layla will barely even last 5 mins on her own sometimes and very rarely naps for longer than 10-15 mins if she does have what I now term a "miracle" nap during the day. However, I am not about to moan about that as I get a full 11-12 hours out of her at night!!! xx
