I've had spd for a while now and finally had my first physio appt' this morning. I was feeling really positive about it and was hoping that they myt give me some exercises/advice to help ease the pain.
Well, when i got there i was seen by a man, about 50yrs old who looked and talked like someone outa Dads Army! The first thing he said was "I don't know why you've been sent to me as i'm not very clued up on pregnant women!". OMG i couldn't believe it! So straight away i had no faith in anything he was saying to me! He was very flippant and basically told me that he imagines all pregnant women have these aches and pains and told me to try and keep active! He tried to show me a couple of exercises that he thought might benefit me, one of which was him swinging his leg about - which there's no way i could do due to my hip pain! He said that there wasn't really much he could do to advise me due to me being pregnant.
I couldn't wait to get out of there, it was a joke!
The only good thing that came of it was that he is going to arrange for me to have a bump support. He didn't even know what one was at first, i had to explain it to him and then he went away and made some calls to the relevant people!
Other than to collect my bump support, i won't be going back there again!!
To those of you that have physio, i have a couple of questions if you don't mind-
Am i correct in thinking that normally pregnant women are sent to a specialist antenatal physiotherapist?
What kind of exercises do they show u to do? If someone could advise me on them then i could just do them myself at home rather than having to go back to my GP and getting her to refer me somewhere else.
Sorry for the long post girls, I'm just so disappointed!!!!
