Are any of you suffering with it?

I've never had it and I'm wondering whether what I'm experiencing is sciatica or pgp!

I noticed the pain whilst trying to get out of bed this morning to go for a wee. I can't really describe the pain, just that it's very painful and radiating down my bum cheek. I'm sitting on the sofa now and when I try to move position, it radiates to the front, top of my left leg. Sitting still is perfect, no pain. When I sit on the toilet, oh my good god, agony. Really hurts to walk too.

I'll book an emergency GP appointment Monday morning xx

Hmm it's tricky to say but it's likely it could be pgp. Your gp will likely refer your for physio which is in my experience is useless for it. I had it in my first pg and now again in this one and am seeing an osteo for it today. There's a post I started a few days ago where another lady swears by a chiro. Have a google of dos and don'ts for pgp. Good luck xx

Thank you lovely. Thankfully it's the weekend so my OH can help with our toddler. I'm in pure agony and have taken myself to bed where I can just lay completely still xx

Bless you, glad you've got some help. Take a couple of paracetamol and get a hot water bottle on the worst of the pain x

My understanding of sciatica is that it starts in your bum and radiates down, where as with PGP the pain can be anywhere around your hips/pelvis.

I suffered last pregnancy (really badly, was signed off at 27 weeks because of it), so completely get how much it hurts! Definitely best to go and see the doc,but be prepared for a useless physio referral as candymycandy says. I saw (and am currently seeing again) a chiropractor, who is the only reason I was able to walk at the end of my last pregnancy. (I'm the same one from candymycandy's other post!)

An amazing website is the pelvic partnership one, they have loads of information re PGP and helpful hints about managing it.

In the mean time, take paracetamol, rest and keep your knees together as much as possible.

Em Xx

Keeping knees together with PGP is not advisable, they need to kept at hip width. You need to keep your knees apart, at hip width again, when lying in bed so shove a pillow between your legs. Avoid lying on your back, when sitting keep your feet flat on the floor at hip width, and when you get out the car swivel with your knees together (that's the only time it's advisable to keep them together). No crossing your legs or putting your feet up on the sofa I'm afraid, and avoid putting all your weight on one leg. Keep moving, don't stand still or you'll seize up - enormously painful when you're standing in a queue!

Sorry, a ton of tips there but getting used to them early can really help with pain management as painkillers doesn't touch it

Thank you! Managed a good sleep with the pillow. Still bloody killing me this morning though, my left hip is just agony. Demanded a massage last night from OH, it was amazing. Are massages ok? xx

I was referred to physio in my first pregnancy. Totally pointless as she told me all the things they'd normally try couldn't be done in pregnancy. They did give me a support belt though which did help. I had some really back back spasms at about 4-5 weeks. Had to get my dad to come rescue me from a Costas when I couldn't move. I think that was due to the hormones loosening muscles.

I think so but keep them gentle just in case.
