PETHIDINE

Pethadine is evil nasty stuff. Made me so sick! I had it with my second m/c coz of the pain and I hated it then, the anti-sickness did fook all for me. I said no to having ti ever again, but at 33 weeks when I was in slow labour they said they would give me something for the pain, they gave me Pethadine and din't tell me what it was till afterwards, I was so angry, but so bloody spaced out I couldn't have a go at them. I hate feeling nauseous. It's rubbish stuff. Never again!

Gas and air made me sick but thats all I had apart from two paracetemol, think I had far too much of it, one midwife took it off me at one stage (witch) and thank god another midwife came in the room and gave me it back. It did make me sound like Kermit the Frog though.....

I had diamorphine which is meant to be just as bad as pethedine. I would never have it ever again! I was totally out of it and then threw up. It also sent Aaron to sleep while he was in me and they couldn't get him to wake up, so didn't help with getting him out. Not sure if that's why I ended up with a c section for no progression but ya never know. They were giving me internals and prodding his head to wake him up and he just wouldn't budge from sleeping. Horrible stuff! Then my midwife told me after that they wanted it banned, not surprised!!

I hated pethadine i had it with frankie and it too made me feel really dozey definately didnt take the pain away but as for gas and air i had it with lewis when he was born god i was away with the fairy's you certainly dont need drugs just have that and it will sen d you high as a kite! :rotfl:

I had 2 lots of Pethidine and loved it. Made me feel drowsy enough to doze away some of the hours of a long labour. Not sure it really helped much with pain but if you're in for a long stretch, I'd recommend it :)

i'm not the only one who loved it then! i was loving it, there was painting at the end of the bed and i thought it was a salvador dali for some reason (tripping)

i'll prob never know if it was down to the pethidine or not but i was in slow labour (had been between 1-2 cms for 4 days) the mw said that it was because i was tensing too much during contractions and so wasnt dilating. Once i had the pethidine i relaxed a bit and then and was pushing hayden out 4 hours later.
