Periods whilst breast feeding ?

Hi just wondering if anyone else has had a random period whilst breast feeding? My LO is 20 weeks and last month I had my first period (well that's what I thought it was) ... I am normally regular ... So was expecting my next one 28 days on! It hasn't appeared ...

It's very likely you will have irregular periods for 3 or 4 cycles. I had regular 28 day cycles before but they started off at 39 days when I got them back at 8.5months. Some women find they are never regular during feeding. It is also possible to have one period and none for months.

Thanks for reply! That's a bit more reassuring - I breastfed my other 2 but the are now 15 and 13! And I never had a period with them until after I had stopped...so was a but surprised when mine arrived last month!! Mentioned to a friend who asked if I was sure it wasn't implantation bleeding!!! Now my period hasn't arrived .... I had an OMG moment!

20 weeks is unusually early to get cycles back if you are exclusively breast feeding. Does LO sleep through the night? That can trigger it sometimes. We knew we wanted to get pregnant again without too long a wait so I was pleased to get my period back at 8 months. Apparently 14 months is average. Everyone is different though.

No she still feeding through night every 2 hours! Guess will just have to wait for next one to appear .... I am more than happy for them to stay away lol x

I had a random period at 4 months. Was still feeding through the night. I haven't had another yet and has now 8 months. Another of my friends had a random period at a similar time to me and nothing since as well

I had a random bleed 6 weeks pp. The MW thought it was my period but I think it could just have been pp bleeding coming back. It seems to be a bit unfair to get your period back so soon with LO feeding frequently in the night.

I had a period a week or so ago. I'm still BF night and day it's a relief that it could just be a one off!

How old is your LO pixel? I got semi regular periods back while LO was feeding day and night but she was already 8 months old and eating a lot of solids too.

She's just over 3 months old and EBF. She sleeps from about 8pm to 3am without waking, but I used to pump at about 10pm. I wonder if dropping that session made them start again?

I had a period when my daughter was about 16 weeks, then skipped 2 before cycle went back to normal x

I bled for approx 5 weeks pp although the last 2 or 3 weeks were very light, then I've just had 5 days fresh blood starting at 6 weeks pp. Been checked over by doc today, inside and out, and she says she thinks it was a period. Noooo!!!! Although given that it took so long to conceive Keo I guess it'll be good to be able to monitor cycles early on for when/if we decide to ttc no. 2! That's the way I'm looking at it to try and make myself feel better, ha!! X

I stopped bleeding 2 weeks PP and had spotting 6 weeks PP. At the time the MW thought it was a period but I'm not so sure. It happened after being more active and having sex so I think that mightt have brought it on. I didn't get semi regular periods untill more than 8 months PP.
