Perinatal midwife mental health appointment?

Hi ladies,

When I miscarried the hospital confirmed what was happening then sent me on my way so was surprised to receive a letter yesterday with an appointment in August to see a perinatal midwife who specialises in mental health.

Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it standard procedure to have this appointment after a miscarriage?

Hi Stacey, Ive been through 5 miscarriages and have never heard of this before. I wish that I'd had an appointment like that though as it sounds like it might be a help.

Thanks ladies. I think it may be as I have a history of mental health due to trauma a few years ago. I wondered if maybe that's why the appointment was made?

Hi, at my gp app following my mc my gp offered this/something similar to me. I declined as right now I don't feel that I need this but it was nice to have the offer.
