People touching your tummy?!

I hardly even have a bump and some randomer that I don't even know (but they had heard from none other than my MIL that I'm expecting) tried to touch my tummy!!

I don't even KNOW this woman. She knows of me, because she knows my MIL...

I've had a pretty crap day today and just generally feeling quite teary and irritable - so my immediate reaction was practically to scream in her face

In hindsight, I did overreact..But at the time I was SO angry at this invasion of personal space I didn't know what to think.

I mean I really shouted at her!
I told her to keep her hands to herself, and that it was extremely rude to touch another human being in that was without an invitation. She huffed and walked away!

I then get an angry phonecall from MIL (who is on HOLIDAY might I add - does she not have anything better to do) saying how dare I insult one of her best friends?!

I totally understand that as I get a proper bump I probably will have people sort of going "Awww" and kinda gently touching it or whatever...And it's odd but when it's bigger I don't think I'd mind as much!!

But she practically groped me...And quite low down my tummy too..

I think it's cause I still feel quite bloated, and getting used to the idea of being pregnant, and it's still my actually tummy if you know what I mean? It's not baby yet! It's still all me there lol

Anyway, sorry for the rant, It's just really annoyed me!!

Oh one of my colleagues did this when I was about 13 weeks, proper prodding into my tummy. I managed to hold it together and ask what on earth she thought she was doing and hope she enjoyed rummaging about in my flab! People really have few manners and as soon as you're pregnant it's like an open invitation for dafties to do all these silly things! Tell your MIL how offended and hurt you were, surely much more important than some random!

I can't say I've had any strangers touch my tummy, but from the moment a friend of mine found out I was pregnant all she does when she sees me is put her hand right at the bottom of my tummy and push inwards quite firmly saying ooh how's lilun... I didn't mind too much at firest as she was a friend... But now I'm getting further along and I really do have quite a bump it's soo uncomfortable! I really feeling like screaming at her to stop touching me but I hate the thought of offending people lol I'm a big softie... One of OH's friend touched my bump earlier and yehh it was weird, cause don't think he's ever touched me more than brushin my hand as I've passed him something before but I didn't mind cause he's a friend, and he was just commenting on how much I had grown and how healthy me and bump were looking and stuff... His partner has recently given birth as well so it's a bit different... :/ sorry lil rant there ha ha xx

So glad I;m not the only one who feels annoyed by this! I have to say, I've had really bad mood swings since I found out, although they seem to be getting better now

The funny thing is, I'm not normally a shouty/yelling person..Infact I tend to bottle it all up and let it all out at once :/
Don't know what made me shout at her, but I felt so uncomfortable at her putting her hands anywhere near that area!

I don't even know if I'd want friends trying to touch my tummy at this stage. I've always been weird about that whole area though, hated people touching my sides or tummy area!! x

I think the only reason I was OK with it today was because there's no mistaking that it's bump and not just me anymore... But I don't usually like anyone, even OH, touching my tummy as I'm so self consious about my weight... It's weird isn't it... x

It is odd I know! It's like I'm sooo certain I won't really mind when It's all baby if you know what I mean! I'm like that with OH too sometimes! x So strange! Hehe I think thats why I flipped out, cause literally OH is the only person I ever let touch my tummy x

Try rubbing their tummy back see how they like it lol!!! My boss touched my tummy on Friday and it was awful I know he didn't mean any harm and was only trying to be nice as my tummy did look very very bump like and he was surprised I was looking so big, but I was the same I felt very uncomfortable as although my tummy is a lot bigger its still very flabby and more tummyish than bumpish so it did feel a bit gropey!! But I couldn't say anything as he's my boss, think I'm gonna have to either step back when I see someone going for it or put my hands in the way!!!
If ur mil moans at you again tell her would she like a stranger groping her, although from what you've said before she probably enjoy it

You can buy maternity tops with "Hands off" on or "Please don't touch my bump" maybe buy a few of those... I know I will be x

i dont blame you for shouting at her, I would have done the same thing if someone I dont know (or pretty much dont know) just walked up and touched bump (even now that it looks like a proper bump)
honestly I would have gone mental lol

my mil does it every time i see her and to be honest Im even close to telling her to shuff off, I dont like it and i dont see why me being pregnant means she thinks she can touch me....makes me feel urgh

I will def be buying those T shirts with hands off the bump on them!!

I too don't see why just because I'm pregnant I should have my personal space invaded!

If anything, people with sense would know not to piss a pregnant lady off x

It is!! But why?! I've had people tell me all sorts so far as well!

I've been told I'll be getting a planned section from MIL cause apparently I'm tiny and OH is huge so baby will be too big for me?! (My MIL is a right cow btw) How I'll def need stitches and stuff, and I just wish she would Shoosh!! lol I think she's trying to scare me tbh!

Other people throw in their tuppence worth too, mostly about how sick I'll be and "ooooh you might be feeling fine now but just you wait" blah blah blah...

And see the amount of people that hear about you being pregnant and suddenly want to be your best friend. It's sooo strange lol

she sounds charming .. From what I know hun , a c-section is only planned if its nessecary like if baby is breach . I've heard of women having 10 pound babies naturally so I wouldnt worry about it . I wish I know why people felt the need to try to horrify and scare pregnant women with stories its so mean

I know I don't understand I Was sure they let you try and give birth naturally and only sectioned if they really had to.

My MIL is a right cow... She told everyone about me being pregnant, and told them I asked her to cancel her wedding

Her wedding was supposed to be the month before, and had nothing to do with me! lol But she's gone ahead and cancelled it and told people it's because I'm pregnant.

I don't really mind, me and OH and just trying to do whats best for us and LO.

I'm confident if everything is ok, I'll be fine birthing naturally! My mum did it 5 times, and never needed stitches, and women do it every day so surely I can too
