I've been doing these ever since I found out I was pregnant and also did them during DD's pregnancy but someone just told me your not meant to do them during pregnancy as they can rupture the placenta and only meant to do them after you've given birth!! Is this true?

I've never heard that before!! I went to a physio antenatal class and they advised to do them, both obstetric physio and midwife! Had the person who said this have children? I just wonder if they have been given specific advice ie maybe had an extremely low lying placenta covering the birth canal and was advised this type of exercise would be harmful in her case and she's taken it as a general comment?

Well I thought it was fine too that's why I'm so confussed! It's my brother who said cos that's what his wife has been told so maybe she has got complications with the placenta?! I always thought it was better to strengthen them now so thier strong after birth. I might ask my midwife

It is recommended that you practice your pelvic floor exercises now, its very important in protecting your continence :)

Yeah def do them really regulary - really really inportant !!! been there.....

My midwife used to say link doing them to something you do all the time, eg when you walk through doorways, you do them, or have a cuppa , do a batch of them etc
