Hi All

Please can you share your experiences with pcos & metformin?

I was prescribed metformin 1 month ago to "get it in my system" before they prescribe me clomid.

Anyway, around 2 weeks ago I had some symptoms of ovulation, I had very sore boobs, pain and when I wiped my cm was very clear and strecthy (sorry if tmi). I did wonder but I dismissed this as I haven't even had a period in 7 months so I thought nothing of it....but then af came 2 days ago.

So I'm wondering if maybe metformin made me ovulate? Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

I think it can. PCOS can cause insulin resistance, which can stop your hormones working, which stops you ovulating. Therefore, if the metformin sorts out your insulin levels then your hormones will work.

1 month is very quick to see results (they usually say 3months), that said if you've been eating well and remembering to take it (unlike me!) then I suppose it can have an effect x

Absolutely! I got pregnant with my son just with metformin. It can totally be all you need. Clomid is a very strong drug, if you might be ovulating purely with metformin then this could be all you need. Like with me. Metformin stabilises your insulin which in turn regulates your hormones x

I got pregnant within 2 months of starting on metformin. There are lots of positive stories out there. Lots of luck to you.
