i have a terrible headache have tried ice packs etc for last 3 days and it just eases for a while, i am also so nauseus now then puking at night.
i was thinking of taking paracetamol but im a bit scared is there any risk with it?
if there is even a small risk id rather just suffer it.

I'm not sure scientifically, but will never be taking any myself, just for that reason -just in case , and look for the actual cause of the problem instead.

If you have been very sick, perhaps dehydration is the real cause , esp as stonkingly hot at the moment.
Do you like lucosade? or isotonic sports drinks? they might be worth a try if you could keep them down

Hope it gets better soon for you X

ive been drinking lucozade but making me sick, 7 up seems to stay down.

try gatorade or powerade...they have minerals in them to help wiv dehydration xx

Paracetamol is perfectly safe to take in pregnancy xx

my midwife says its only thing you can take safely in pregnacy ad surely is etter for baby than you being ill and stressed out x

Hi i currently have a ?back muscle strain and went to docs about it. she said paracetamol was fine to take. was a bit dubious and then then midwife called me and i asked her (as still wasnt happy to take any!) and she assured me is safe to take as doesnt cross the placenta. Would be much better for you than to be in pain and stressed. hope this helps and that you feel better soon xx

Alisarose thought I'd reply because you sound as miserable as I felt at a similar stage in my pregnancy
1) wrt the night time morning sickness I had this as well really badly and only found out after being hospitalised for dehydration that I infact had hyperemisis gravidarium (excessive ms). I had never heard of it prior to getting it and just assumed it was normal but it's not so if it's really bad get to your GP because you could end up really dehydrated which isn't good for you or baby

2) Paracetemol is perfectly safe to take while pregnant. I should know because I also developed kidney stones while preggers and the hossie threw boxes of paracetemol at me. I took 2 every 4 hrs for about 2 weeks (at the instruction of the hospital) so please don't suffer if you don't have to. If your unsure go to your midwife or GP but I would get checked out for the ms and make sure your not dehydrated

Hi I have terrible back pain not preganancy relatated and its so painful I have to take paracetamol was told by my doctor and midwife and aunt who is a doctor that it is perfectly safe in pregnancy xx

I didn't realise that they recomend it as safe in pregnancy - how does paracetamol not cross the placenta , but others do? it's all too trickyX

I think it's more to do with the fact that other painkillers (ibuprofen, diclofenac etc) are also anti-inflammatory so they affect your blood pressure and how dilated the blood vessels are. Paracetamol tends to be the only painkiller safe for people on blood pressure medication and with asthma for the same reasons. It only works on the part of your brain connected to processing pain and doesn't cause any other side affects. That's why ibuprofen is better for things like sprains because it helps with the swelling, but paracetamol is fine for a headache :)

Don't quote me, although this is what I learnt at Boots!

yes and also ibruprofen and asprin ca thin the blood after prolonges use x
