I had a spinal block when I had my c section. Ever since I've had shooting pains/ spasms up and down my spine. Sometimes they go away quickly sometimes they last longer and feel like throbbing.
Sometimes bending starts them off.

Has this happened to anyone else / does anyone know what it is?

Ooh I don't know. It may be a bit bruised?
You'll get better replies from ladies who have had a spinal. I've only had an epidural. It seems headaches are common after that.
Hope you get answers. Tell your midwife too x

Yes I had a spinal block and got exactly what you described for 2-3 weeks after. Especially after lying in bed for a while at night xx

I had spinal block and it felt weird for a few days.....like I had something still in my back x

I have had 2 sections and with both I had a spinal block an do have never had these symptoms. I would seek medical advice as this is an indication of a complication. The 'complications and signs to look for post section' were discussed with me during my recovery. X

It's been over 3 weeks now so I'm going to book a doctors appointment on Tuesday. It took over an hour for them to get the spinal in as I've had back surgery in the past for scoliosis.
I also got shooting pains when they were trying to do it around where they were putting the needle in but I don't know if that's normal?

No one discussed what to look for with me either.

They should have done Hun, I'm sure they are supposed to, definitely speak to your gp about it Hun, hopefully you get it sorted out x x

Def Gp jobby. Hope he can give you answers and reassure you.

When I had my last baby the man who put the spinal block in accidentally touched a nerve in my spine and I got the same pains as you describe for about a year afterwards. The shooting pains wasn't only up my spine but they went the whole length of my body, right down my left leg to my toes. I was sent to see a specialist because my Doctor didn't know what was wrong and it took them about 4 months to tell me it was nerve damage, there was nothing they could do and only time would heal it. I spent along time taking painkillers and eventually it just went. It wasn't constant but it happened alot sadly and I am sure it was just down to the in-experience of the person who put my epidural in. My own bloody fault because I was asked if I minded a junior Doctor to do it while supervised and I agreed :(

Apparently if the Doctor who puts the epi in is just a fraction of a mil out he can touch a nerve and nerves are very easily damaged/aggravated. I hope yours doesn't last as long as mine did and I swear if I am asked at this c section if I mind a junior Doctor administering the epi I will slap somebody! I'll never be a guinea pig again!
