Just wanted to know what everyones hospitals were like where they are giving birth?

Call me nieve...but i thought that everyone who gave birth was either put in a seperate room if they had to have their baby with them or the babys were put in a room altogether when they were sleeping....is this wrong?

Yesterday when i was at the hospital i was informed that you had to pay £65.00 for a room in the birthing ward and i think this is terrible!

Anyone any views?

It's £120 per night at my hospital! I'm not sure how it works either though, do you give birth on a ward full of other people?? :?

you give birth in a separate room. Then once they have checked that you and the baby are fine, you will be transferred to a ward (with perhaps 3-5 other women and/or their babies). Unless you pay for a private room, in which case you can be transferred there after the birth.

In Peterborough, you give birth in the Delivery Suite, then you are transferred to a ward with 4 beds. As far as I know, the baby is with you all the time, unless you are asleep.

yes when i had millie i gave birth in the delivery suite then moved to a ward with 4 other ladies and their babies

Once I had Dan I was put on a ward with 5 other ladies and their babies. Dan was with me the whole time. However a few days after he was born he had jaundice so I was moved to a private room as the bilibed light could keep up the other mummys.

I was in a ward of about 20 people, but paris was with me the whole time, this time I want to be out straight after the birth

last time i had alana at 8am, moved to ward about 11pm, but was only 2 other ladies in there, and babies stayed with us the whole time.

but this new hossy im planning on birthing in, you stay in the labour room until u leave. so quite looking forward to having privacy.

Our hospital only has private en suite rooms
Sounds a bit posh but I'd hate being on a ward, suppose it's a way of meeting other mum's though.
