Hi all........So I have my EPU scan on Friday when Il be approx ten weeks!!

Just got letters through saying...
Ive got to see midwife on Sat 11th. I have my 12 week scan late on first week of Jan.. so lots to look forward too.

Got a couple of qs-
what happens at Midwife appoint (Ive already had booking in with a nurse at my GP)

Did anyone else get the option in their letters to prebook now, a private room for their birth (private with ensuite £85 quid) which ive signed and agreed to already as im quite a shy person so like my own space. They had another option £120 for a 'superior room' in a different ward (lol) but i think the £85 should be ok............anyone else doing this?

thanks xx

At my first midwife appointment the midwife filled in paperwork, asked about our family histories, and took blood and pee. I haven't heard anything about prebooking rooms or paying anything, not sure if they do that at my hospital.

Depends what the nurse did at your booking in with her?
I was weighed, had blood pressure taken, given booklets about whnat not to eat and Emmas diary booklet with all the freebies cards inside. She filled out notes for the chosen hospital I had chosen including lots health questions, and they should take booking in bloods, although mine was not done till 17 weeks in error.

As forr the private room, I'm shy, but the whole having a baby thing will help you , as you get used to being a little more on display as a natural course of time. But still even with that I would always go for a shared ward , normally 4 /6 beds nowadays. they will all have massive curtains that go right around the beds so you can have as much privacy as you like. And when your on your own and oh has gone home it really is nice to talk to other ladies who have also just had babies, you might want to wait till nearer the time.

My Midwife filled in tons of paperwork and asked lots of family health history questions. She then checked my urine. She asked me to think about where i'd like to give birth but I didn't have to make a choice there and then.

Everywhere is different though :)
