OPK and ovulation

Hi all,

I am trying to establish when I am ovulating and have been using some cheap test sticks. In the last couple of days a second faint line showed but it was never as dark as the test line. According to the instructions it needs to be as dark or darker as the test line, so I assumed I have not ovulated. However, today there was no second line at all, not even a faint one.
So I am wondering whether I have ovulated. Any advice?

You may have missed your surge. How many times a day are you testing? I test 3 times a day now. I usually get a faint line for a few hours and a dark line for about 12 hours. So if you only test once a day and only have a dark line for 12 hours, you could miss it. Good luck!

When I was testing last month, none of my tests were as dark as the control line, but I put that down to the mount of tea and coffee I drunk. It says you musn't drink for 4 hours before testing to get a true reading, so could that be your problem? I took mine like you have as ovulation as I also never got a faint line before then.

This is my first cycle of testing and have only been testing once a day and probably not at the right time. We have however been bding every second day since I first saw a faint line so I assume that we might be in with a chance. I guess I won't know until AF is due, which is my second problem as I only stopped my pill in August and had first proper AF beg of November. I will not know when AF is due as I have not figured out the length of my cycle yet.
Can I asked whether you still get a faint line once you have ovulated?

This might be my problem too as I drink a lot of water during the day. Did you ever get a faint line just after ovulation?

Yeah, I have a faint line for at least 24 hours after I have ovulated.

If you have been BDing every 2nd day, you should be in with a good chance

I drink quite alot (about 2 litres of water a day), but still get positive tests. I do try not to drink too much for 2 hours before I do a test though.

Thanks for this! I have had no second line at all for last two days. So it is likely that I ovulated which is good news.

It's so frustrating. As per my previous posts I thought I had ovulated but did another test today and again had a second faint line (nearly as dark as the test line). I am very confused now. As I said before I never had a real positive as the second line was never as dark as the test line but it was nearly. But I also had the same some days ago so I am very confused. Still trying to work out my cycle length as well...
