OOOOPS!

Did the shopping for my dinner party and bought an apple tart - the kind with creme patissiere in. Decided I couldnt wait until tomorrow so just had a slice - then realised that creme patissiere is very egg based.

Am I rubbish or what?????

Well, I'm ok this morning so seem to have escaped the salmonella.....(frantically touches wood )

Makes you think though doesn't it! If I'd been to a restaurant I'd have ordered soemthing like that without even thinking about it - it's only cos I had the box and happened to notice the eggs thing! Duh!

You only have to avoid raw or undercooked eggs, cos of the salmonella risk. The egg in creme patisserie is cooked - it's like a custard, so the salmonella would have been killed off anyway. So no need to worry.

Also, the last salmonella outbreak in this country was from a shop selling dodgy salad sandwiches. We haven't had an egg based salmonella crisis in this country for about 20 years.

So I'm sticking with soft boiled eggs and soldiers!

Excellent! I like a girl who talks sense. Well, I can't have a fag or a beer, I'll be damned if I stop having my dippy eggs. I love them.
