On way to hospital doesn't look good :(

Oh honey this angers me so much, that due to it being a weekend care gets compromised. This happened to us, we were told we could not have the scan we desperately needed as it was a Saturday and there was no one available to do it! It just isn't good enough in my eyes, the NHS is shit! I can't believe they would leave you until Monday, time is so important. Are there any other hospitals that's are likely to have someone that can scan you? I would try and push if I were you, my hubby kicked off and old them that mine and my sons care were being compromised due to the weekend. I would of thought they should at least admit you for monitoring until the scan is available so they can get you in ASAP.

Fingers crossed honey, it will all work out fine xxx

Keeping everything crossed for u, really hope everything turns out ok. Completely agree with the others about care on a weekend, i think it's awful. Thinking of u xxxx

dont think so negative this will not help and will drive you crazy if you cant be seen until monday all i can suggest is rest and drink plenty of water :hugs:

Really hope you both pull through and everything wworks out for you hun xx

Oh hun, what shoddy treatment :( huge hugs and good luck tomorrow

They wouldnt do an emergency scan they said there was no point as the emergency scanning equipment/ Consultant cant measure fluid volume only establish if the babys heart is beating properly & shes moving which she is as they could find that out from the monitor.
They said they need the proper scanning machine that does measurements & a sonographer to operate it & the earliest they can get me in is 10.30 Monday morning.
I just hope the 4D scanning woman got it wrong as she never mentioned it last week when she scanned me & she also said the baby was small at 29 weeks last week at 2lb11oz & still claims shes small at 3lb2oz this week at 30 weeks but everything ive read says thats average?
OH reckons she doesnt know what shes on about, when I complained at the hospital they said its the 4D womans fault as she should have rung them herself or written a report for them!!! :wall2:
Still amounts to the same thing though, we are left in limbo worrying about it all & fearing the worst.
x

Its hard not to think negative Midnight when there are only 3 things that can cause it & all 3 are so serious, the kidney problem being the most likely & fatal.
Apparantly drinking more fluids wont help there is nothing I can do but wait til the scan x

your 30 weeks now so even if she did have to be born early there is no reason that the worse would happen please stay possitive :hugs: do you have a garden go and sit in the sun today and relax whilst drinking plenty of fluids i know its easier said than done to not worry i know but the more possitive you can be the better is she still moving around as usual? as normally with low amniotic fluid the movements are more restricted!! and just look at MOM her waters broke really early and he lo was ok and hung in there. i hope tomorrow comes round really quickly for you

kidney or heart problems are normally picked up at a 20 week scan was your 20 week scan all ok?

It can be a worrying to be told you have low amniotic fluid. However, there's not much you can do, apart from staying well hydrated, eating healthily and getting plenty of rest. Try not to let worry stop you from sleeping. You and your baby will be well looked after during your pregnancy. You'll both be carefully monitored by midwives and doctors to make sure you receive the best possible care.

EDIT thought id add amniotic fluid levels can change every 7 hours roughly so just because it was low then doesnt mean its low now this could be the reason it wasnt picked up a week earier

I'm speechless and wish I could find wise words to comfort you just a little bit...hopefully this is not as bad as you were led to think, thinking of you and your bubs hun xxxx and yes according to all my books 3lb2oz or 1.3 kg is the right weight for 30 weeks !!!

Thanks hun, I know but there has been no leak or anything everythings still intact so the reason they think there isnt much fluid is that she is not weeing & replenishing the fluid hence their thought its probably kidney problems, they have already said if it is this she will not survive even if born at full term :( x

Her kidneys appeared normal at 20 weeks but they are worried they have failed not that they werent formed :( because I've been so sick with hyperemisis Ive had constant ketones & thats what can cause Kidney damage apparantly so although she was fine at 20 weeks & they had formed & were functioning they can fail after that x

Thanks where did u read this Midnight?
x

then if they are that worried surely they would of admitted you instead of sending you home?? i know its easy for me to say as im not going through it but staying as possitive as you can and keeping calm is the best for you and your baby dont give up hope not yet xxxxx

They monitored me & the monitor kept saying criteria not met, eventually it said criteria met so they said I could go home as there was nothing else they could do on a weekend apart from establish her heartbeat was ok & that she was moving which theyd already done whilst I was in, they said I may as well go home & keep a count on her movements & if they slow down come bk in.x

if you type in how often does amniotic fluid change brings up certain forums and discussion topics i know it does replenish itself if enough fluid is taken its strange how last week was ok fluid and this week not i really do hope it turns out to be somethign thats fixable she also isnt small for her size either so if ive read that right th 4d scanner is making you worry over her size for nothing xxxxx really wish i could give you a real :hugs:

yeah if the movement slow down its important to get checked as this indicates low amniotic fluid too its stupid that just because its a weekend you cant be seen worring will cause your BP to go up and everything stupid hospitals

I did't feel my waters leak i just went in with bleeding and they told me that my baby would die they even sent someone in my room to discuss funerals, doctors kept saying i would go into labour and nothing i could do, I think they give you worse case scenario, because if they say to you everything could be fine and its not you could sue them etc. I know its wrong , i do really understand what your going through and i went by my gut instinct while my baby is still moving and heart beating i will not give up. When my fluid level was very low the only option theygave me was my waters were leaking nothing else, nothing about kidneys or anything else. I really hope for the best for you.

Thanks Ladies,

MOM did they check you for fluid before they told u that? They said I had no amniotic fluid present outside & no leaks either so that kidneys was the most likely option, especially coupled with all the ketones Ive had throughout.
I hate the NHS :( x
