Hi everybody,

I am pregnant!!! Ok so obvious thing to say on this forum but it feels so great to express it.

I have lots of questions and was hopeful that perhaps a few could be answered. I am 4 weeks today and due date (gulp!) is around the middle of June.

Flying: I am off on a long hual trip next week and although the GP said it was fine, is there anything special I should do on the flight.....apart from drink water and move around.

Morning sickness: when does this start? I know it differs for each person but I dont like being sick at the best of times and am worried for my plane flights.

Diet coke: slight addict, how much can I have per day etc.
Cheese: I know goats cheese is off the menu how about Feta?
Canned tuna: again how many can I have per week.

Many thanks and I look forward to sharing my pregnancy with all over you.

xx

First off congrats!!!! :)

Ok I don't have any tips about flying apart from what you said. I think they say to keep your caffeine intake to less than 300mg a day, I'm sure I read that there's about 50mg in coke but I could be wrong. You could always buy the decaf. Not sure about feta cheese as I've never liked it.

I'm sure the other girls will be able to help they're really great on here!
Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy for you!

Hi

I had a really bad craving for cold cans of coke when I was pregnant so asked mu doctor loads about caffeine, they say to have no more than 200mg of caffeine a day I think thats about 4 cans of coke a day

The feta cheese is made from unpasturised milk so they say not to eat it and the tuna Im sure it is 2 cans a week I have it quite alot and in mayonaise doctor and midwife say everything in modertation

Hope you have a healty pregnancy xx

Diet coke I would stay clear off because of the aspartatme

oh thats right actually I was told to avoid any diet drinks when pregnant the doctor said it sounded strange to say full fat drinks were better than diet ones because of the artificial sugars xx

No advice but i am 4 weeks today too :) good luck in your pregnancy xxx

it is chemical substitute for sugar x

Yup, but there is no medical proof that it isn't safe in pregnancy - I have sweetners in my "decaff" coffee and tea and I drink caffiene free diet coke which also has sweetners in it.

In my opinion, switching to full fat coke could have a massive impact on your teeth as your teeth are more at risk in pregnancy (more weaker).

xx

hmmm. i did'nt know this about the diet drinks! i have been drinking them, not much but still! also had homemade mayo the other day by accident, ooops! so easy to forget :(

My midwife said no more than one can a day. I have a few a day but not everyday and I have a healthy baby but don't exceed one can a day. Xx

The few pregnancy books i have say only one can of tuna per week, i looked it up because i love tuna too :-(

Anyway congrats and welcome to the forum! U going anywhere nice? x

I havent avoided most things to be honest and I would never tell anyone to avoid anything, each to there own, I think that back in the days where there were no "evidence" that there were certain things you could and couldnt have when pregnant they done just fine

For instance my papa used to work in a factory that made the base of baby formula and he said that he knew that sort of chemicals were in it but it does no baby any harm, i was gutted when I was pregnant last time to be told I couldnt breastfeed because of a bad infection on my lymphnodes but I formula fed Mia and she has been fine and healty like any other child xx
